I've bought a half dozen re-con tools from them and all I've gotten was brand new stuff lacking some misc minor item.

The only defect with my CPO refurbs is to goo the "REFURB" sticker left on the case.

I bought a recon Bosch brushless drill and impact set from them. That vintage Bosch drill had a common issue with random no response to the trigger. I don't know why the set I received was reconed but it still had the random no trigger response. Very annoying. CPO took it back no problem. I'd certainly buy from them again and have actually.

Milwaukee ratchet had a tool control number carved into the body. Bosch planer plate was scuffed and had sawdust all over it. Both worked okay but cant say anything looked "new".

It's a little risky on Milwaukee stuff cause you only get a year warranty as opposed to five years.

Overall, I've had good luck with CPO.

Just sent a "reconditioned" M12 Hackzall back to them, it had no power. No way they checked it out. Apparently the reconditioning consisted of blowing the dust off and branding it as "reconditioned".
Also sent a M12 cordless Rotary Tool back a few months ago, it had intermittent trigger issues.
CPO took them back, paid for return shipping and issued refunds, no problem.

+1 The reduction in price does not reflect this. I don't touch the CPO refurb stuff for this reason.

I can recall using "any" tool warranty less than 4 times in my lifetime (50 + years). I don't buy tools I expect to break (don't treat them badly either) and I suspect you don't as well. I buy quality first and price second. If you can get a CPO reconditioned tool for 15% - 25% less than the new tool - why not?

The warranty (or lack there of) does not concern me. I don't think it does you either if you think about it.

I've had great luck with the items I've bought from them.

I’ve never had a reason to file a warranty claim on a power tool either, and I got my first power drill in 1966.

That’s not to say I haven’t worn things out or replaced switches and brushes, but nothing within a warranty period.

What's the deal with cpo? Doesn't "remanufactured" mean it was made once, used and then rebuilt to factory specs? Or do I have that wrong? I've never gotten ANYTHING from them that didn't look brand new. Are they simply reusing electrical components or what?

I believe CPO sells items that users returned under warranty and get fixed ,tested and cleaned and resold to people who want good tools at decent prices. Some are new that get retuned because of a missing part. Or when people but a new tool take a part they need and claim the part was missing.

I have bought a bunch of RECON version of Ridgid tools through Directtoolsoutlet.com

Everything I have bought works well, no complaints on everything from a Cordless Nailer to a Jig Saw + batteries

The 1 time I bought recon from CPO was an Milwaukee 3/8 impact. It looked like the nose cone was used as an hammer and the anvil wouldn't spin at all. That POS went back!

Tried using one of those 2.0 batteries with the 1/2 impact. Didnt work, cant supply the amps required once it starts hammering. Hammered for about 10 seconds and shut down. Blinking dead, it was full at start. The battery would recover to full few seconds after shut down. 5.0 no problem. Hammered for like 30 seconds. Was using it on a 3/4 pipe extractor. Needless to say it couldnt budge it and i had to chisel it out.

This was the first cordless kit I ever bought.

https://www.cpooutlets.com/factory-reconditioned-ryobi-zrp825-one-plus-18v-cordless-lithium-ion-2-tool-starter-combo-kit/ryorzrp825,default,pd.html

That was in 2014. Great gateway drug. lol. I quickly added the 1/4 impact driver, reciprocating saw, multi-tool, radio, 2 lights, and 2 more batteries.

I ended up selling it all to a friend and going with Makita. But yeah CPO is great. I guess they get their tools from the arsewipes who buy a tool, use it for one project, and then return it back to the store. The tools I have bought from CPO have been in mint shape.

I can't even count how many tools I've purchased from CPO. Probably been buying from them for almost 20 years. I make my living with these tools and only remember having to return an item once. Their service has been great.

When a bunch of my tools were stolen from a jobsite, the only place I could find a discontinued Porter Cable #310 router at a fair price was CPO.
