Craftsman 150 Drill Press - Just got it! :)

Jake, did you get the full CD set from the guy on Eprey? That is he only source I know of with all of them.

Shhhhhhh, I was looking like a genius until you let the cat out of the bag.

But yeah, I have the CD. I waited (almost a year) until the price dropped and then pounced. I think I paid around $60 at the time I pulled the trigger. I'm not sure how well the CD's work on a PC, but they're a little awkward on my Mac. Some of the scans are fuzzy, but this is the only digital source for all the Craftsman catalogs so you work with what ya' got. The scans from Rose's site are better resolution though.

Model No. prefix's had nothing to do with dates, other than as when the particular MFG had contracts with Sears.

101 was Atlas (pre King Sealy), and 103 is KS for example.

That was actually what I was referring to. Didn't Emerson Electric take over drill press production from King Sealy in 1964 (and thus the model number change to 113.xxxxx)?

According to the catalogs -
1957 = Models 80 & 100 - Heritage Logo (pages 30 and 31 from the 1957 catalog)
1958 = Model 150 - Crown Top Logo (page 21 from the 1958 catalog)

If I have learned nothing else about Sears, it is that I can only believe about half of what I know. I had a powder bronze model 100 with the heritage logo which I purchased from the original owner who had acquired it in 1958. Perhaps it was just old stock. Still I seem to remember reading somewhere that the Crown logo had been adopted in 1960. I wonder if maybe not all the product line changed simultaneously?

In any case, based upon our collective knowledge, it looks like that press could safely be dated 1958 - 1963.

BDA, logos? Does the table tilt on the black one? 100's had tilting tables, the 150's not.

I will check to see but I believe that both have crown logo. I will try and snap a pic.

Here is mine. Came with the table, light and the manuals. Only gave $75 to it. Never had to touch the DP, it works great. The wired it to a switch inlaid in the table, makes turning it on and off easy and safe. Motor has a reverse switch as well. Few people have told me the light is worth more than I paid for the whole thing.

Just noticed that mine has tapped holes in the DP table to mount a machining vice. Did these come stock on some or were these added by an owner?

My Older Mod 100 with the tilting table had clearance slots 90 deg from where yours are, and those show in the catalog in 56 for the optional tilt table, as well as the std bench top base. I think yours were added.

The big push on logos seems to have generally been on decade changes, but there has been overlap in both directions at times. Certainly 1940, 1950, 1960 had overlaps for different products,
