Has any one else had problems with the Craftsman Lithium-ion batteries not charging?
My older Ni-cad batteries are dying a slow death (shorter run times). So, I bought two new 19.2volt Lithium-ion batteries (link) and the new 4-port multichemistry charger (link) so I can charge all batteries and not waste the money on a single charger.

Well, I hook it up, insert my batteries and wait for the fun to begin... The charger charges my old batteries (link) no prob... but won't charge the li-ion ones fully: it says their charged, but they run 30 seconds then die.

So, I exchange the batteries thinking they may be defective. I put the new ones in the charger and it says their charging... the green light indicating fully charged comes on so I put one in the tool... 30 seconds later it's dead.

So I take the charger back and exchange it for a new one; long story short: same $h!tty results!!!:mad::mad:

Am I missing something obvious? do I need to charge the batteries in the single li-ion charger 1st? I wouldn't think it would matter and the batteries should all charge the same.

The batteries fit in my tools (don't say C3 on them) the same as the ni-cads so they should work... right?

So now I am a senior citizen that for years has loyally purchased Craftsmen products, but no more. I have at least 8 dead 19.2 batteries of the ni-cad design and I am replacing them with the lithium ion style hoping for a longer than six month life. So far the one battery I have is living past the six month life span. I did notice that when the lithium ion battery gets low it just quits without slowing down. Run the battery to this point before charging it. This seems to work for me. Then start looking for another brand if you need another tool. Sears is using some very low quality batteries to compete price wise with the china junk. I am disappointed in Sears and I am slowly eliminating all my Craftsmen stuff.
