The description says every socket made by craftsman, But I don't see any universal sockets.
What sizes are missing if any from the 299 or 308 sets?

The answer to that is buried in this thread. All I remember is that the 308 has more 3/8's sockets. If I remembered that correctly.
So is the 308 worth the extra? Do they skip any sizes308 piece Socket Accessory Set with Extension Bars.
Includes 299 sockets and 9 extension bars in 1/4, 3/8 & 1/2-Inch drives.

Last I looked the only difference was the 9 extensions. The sockets were the same.

Please notice that 35831, in addition to the 9 extensions, is a "Dual Marked" set whereas the 35299 is NOT according to the "Contents List". IMO, 35831 is the "Better Deal" of the two--Less money[322.99 versus 329.99], 9 extensions, and the dual marking--just me. Stan
This was true when the sets were first offered, but Craftsman quickly dropped the "Easy Read" sockets and began only offering dual marked. For several years now, both of these sets have been dual marked and they are sure to be now that all production has been moved overseas.
