Still on clearance as of today. They had a pink clearance sticker for $63 each but I had them ring the sets up and they were $10 and $20. They weren't in the socket section at our store, but rather next to the hammers and staplers. Guess that is my stores designated clearance section.

I see Ebay is flooded with them now, typical. If anyone hears of the fractional sets going on clearance post it up. I did get in on the few that were clearanced out a few months back.

My store has them in stock but refuses to sell them for me at a clearance price, says they are not on clearance they are regular price... Can someone send their reciept to me showing the price they paid? Would LOVE to get a deal on these sets!

12 Oaks (Novi MI) had two of the 9 pc and one of the 6 pc on the shelf still. Only checked the price on the 6 pc and it was 20 bucks. I couldn't justify them and left them on the shelf.

Picked up 2 of each at Security Square Mall in Baltimore. 2 of each left as of lunch today. (on shelf directly opposite the main register - chest high. Took forever for three people to find them.)

If it took forever wouldn't you still be there waiting for them to be found? :p

The last time I looked one of the local sears had several sets of these.

I'm curious as to what automotive applications they are useful for?

Most stuff I get in my shop is older domestic production, so before I buy metric tools I have to have a good use for them

If anyone would like to pass the deal forward to a GJ member on an extra set, I would be happy to pay shipping and whatever handling fee that they wanted. I tried several Sears with no luck. I guess the word on these clearance items travels fast. Those of you who got the deal lucked out.

Thanks...

I just picked up a set of each. They weren't marked with any price, but I had the sales guy scan it, and they came up at the clearance prices. They're basically just giving them away at this price. Even though I didn't really need them right now, there's no way I'll ever be able to find quality USA metric 3/4 sets this cheap, and they will probably be more useful in the future with later model vehicles.

Gotta love the jerks who buy to flip, instead of letting people who really need them get them...

I had the same problem, wonder if they "fixed the error" or if it has to do with Franchise stores verses company owned stores...

I went to office depot to get a bluetooth wireless mouse that they were clearancing out for $4. I looked and the display was empty so I figured I just missed out. I got some other stuff I needed and then went to check out and a vendor that I see at the flea market all the time was in line in front of me and he had an entire buggy full of the model mouse I wanted. I asked him if I could get just one and he said "sure after I check out I will sell you one for $20".

What comes around goes around. Maybe you will be able to pay him back one day. I am sure that he would not appreciate it if someone took advantage of him. People **** lately.

Hm... Maybe I'm an ******* but I believe business is business, giving away something you were buying with the intent to sell is like giving someone in line $16 (in this case) because he wanted one too... It ***** and yeah he could be a nice guy and toss one over to yah and smile, but there is no requirement. That is one of the reasons so many small retail type businesses fail, friend start coming out of the wood works wanting a "hook up". People don't have the heart to say no to their friends and end up going under.... But I agree it does **** when that happens

no the guy is an *** and slimeball, he had a choice, he could have given 1 item to the guy and say here ya go buddy, or he could have said, sorry mate, i need these and probably a few more

instead of just being an opportunist, he basically says he's a C*** and let me not only **** you after I pay, but let me rub it in your face

i see you are looking for the 3/4 sockets from your previous posts - same would be if I had a couple of dozen sets and offer them to you for 80 ea or based on your logic... you couldn't possibly be expecting anyone to just sell a set to you for cost plus shipping.... they should mark it up 3 or 4 times and you should be gladly offering that

I would agree with your logic if he saw the mouse for sale at a flea market. In this case, he was at the same place as the fellow who just happened to get to the store before him. I have no problem with anyone making a profit, but in this case, it was blatant that the guy was all about money. He did not even leave the store yet, so how much time and effort did he spend? The answer is none and if he was decent, he could have passed the deal forward this time.

Hm... I can agree with that, It's not what you say but how you say it... Him choosing not to sell one because he planed on it as an investment was ok. But being a ******* and saying yeah sure for 4X as much as you watch me buy them for you can have one.

Also yeah I would be annoyed if someone here said yeah I'll sell you a set for double what I just paid. But I would also look at it as that is business and his choice. You win some and yah loose some, but it all works out in the end. Also I would make the choice to buy them if they were worth it to me still because it would still be a good price. But in this case, I would do with out since I don't really need them mostly want them for when/if I do.

If anyone has a 9-piece set they want to sell, please pm me. I have all of the 3/4" SAE sockets, but no metrics and I have a Kubota tractor that needs to be worked on!

They weren't with the actual sockets, they were on the bottom shelves of an end cap on the last aisles (sockets/pliers aisles), attached across from the clearance section facing the main aisle (but not on the main aisle itself). There were a bunch of craftsman sawblade clocks on the end cap.

Sorry if the directions are confusing, I'm not sure how else to explain it. Go down the socket/wrench aisle, hang a right when you get to the end (where's there's another cross aisle, not the back aisle), and it will be the end cap immediately on the left.

My father-in-law found a 9pc for me in the town he lives in. Now I have both. :) They will go well with my 4ft 3/4" drive torque wrench I just got of CL.

If anyone has any sets they are willing to part with, I need both (seeing as my local stores doesn't offer the discount).

Thanks

I went to 5 different sears today. "Sears Hardware" franchises didnt seem to have them marked down. And in 3 regular sears I found them in they were in the closeout section and not with the sockets. They come in cardboard boxes and in all 3 of my stores had electronic security alarm tags attached to them.
