Craftsman Block Grinder

Person is asking $60 for this grinder. Any input as to (1) its age and HP (2) how much you would pay would be appreciated.

Edit: It appears to say "1/2 HP" first thing at the top of the label.

Edit II: It also appears to be in nearly unused condition. It's worth at least twice that.

Not sure on age, someone here will know. Looks like it says 1/2HP. I'd happily pay the $60.

I've owned a few of those, it's 70's vintage and light duty. That said, unless you hear some awful noises when you turn it on, give the seller his $60 and take it home.

The price is more than fair.

FYI, the spark arresters appear to be used as washers on the tool rests. They belong at the top of the wheel guards

I paid $25 for nearly the same model year, put another $20 into it with parts from a VERY generous member here at GJ, and still feel like a got one of the best deals I ever have.

So yeah, grab it for the $60 (of course ask if he'll take $40 and maybe you get it for $50)...

The spark arrestors are there, just need to be relocated

The only thing I can find for 60$ around here is B&D junk or **** Made in China. I'd hire a police ****** to make sure I'd get there in time to get it.

It's not a steal, but it is a fair price. If I needed another bench grinder, I'd happily pay $60 for that one.

For the record : I am the proud owner of a block grinder. I bought it for the $60 last night. Smooth as silk; hardly used. I didn't bother to haggle because of the great deal he gave me on some other goodies (I'll post pics etc in the 2015 Garage SaleThread this weekend)

Just need to move the spark arrestors.

Model 397.19370 (for anyone researching this in the future).
