Craftsman COO China FAIL THREAD

Since Harbor Freight has a fail thread, let's start one for the newest addition. Craftsman which is manufactured in China but apparently the saving grace is that they are made using US Materials.

I highly doubt that...as we go to the first victim which went out Derek Jeter Style. First time up it was hit right out of the park.

Here is a Rivet Gun with the swivel head which is a mandatory at my job (HD Diesel Tech). I did not have a rivet gun at the time and had to barrow a co-workers due to the fact D.O.T. (Department of Transportation) was on a Blitzkreig like assault late at night. We had an abundant amount of trucks coming in and I had to replace a few brake/tail light assemblies which are held by 4 Rivets each. A co worker lent me his USA Cman Rivet gun and it worked flawlessly. The next day I ran to my local Sears and found the exact one (did not check COO). Well It sat in my tool box for a month begging to be used. Finally had to install the new rivets. One,two,3 and a crack, I was like Holy Sh*t I didn't even see the rivet eject out of the back (thinking this thing works great). I pull it off and still the rivet there as if it never broke off. I look at the tool and I assume the USA rivet won! Blew a chunk out of the head and cracked in the back. I went to my co-worker and he let me barrow his USA one which is in the picture and also gave me other Rivet gun which was made here in Long Island,NY. I opted not to keep the LI,NY Rivet gun b/c it did not have to swivel head and would be useless. I told him when he dies I want that gun . Went to two local Sears and they just have COO China ones, so I am giving it another shot.

This really is not a use FAIL but more of a production FAIL.

Here is a set of SAE Crowsfoot. One in USA and one COO China. You can clearly see that the COO China is greater in size then the USA one's. Now Crowsfoot is something that most people do not use often but when you need them that one time they pay for themselves instantly. So when the size is larger then normal it could jeopardize clearance issues and render them useless. If they are using US materials then why is there that much extra material in the tool? Just some food for thought.

Just don't buy Chinese made Craftsman. Problem solved. Plenty of other choices out there. Before anyone asks why craftsman going china is such a big deal and no one cared when lowes and hd did it. It's because we all grew up using craftsman and so did our dads etc. it's always been USA.

They realized their mistake and went back to USA. Look these posts are gettin old I agree. Craftsman is just one of those icon brands that everyone knows. People always just assumed it was USA made. I won't be buying any china made craftsman. If I want cheap import tools I will buy Kobalt. Nicer ratchets and definately nicer wrenches. Those full polish stubby craftsman wrenches just look plain silly.

Wrenches sockets and ratchets and extensions yes. Rest of the stuff is china. Was just pointing out that no one really cared when lowes or depot switched. Why? Because the tools have not been around as long. My dad had craftsman USA made tools and so did his dad. Then in the mid to late 90's so did I. I still have the wrenches and sockets. Also still have the ratchets. Never had to warranty one. Only had to warranty one socket in 17 years. Last craftsman tools I bought were the add on socket modules when they went on sale. I bought the last USA made sets. The thin profile ratchets are becoming my most used and I own a bunch of snap on and Cornwell. I also have the pro screwdrivers and they are great for the money.

The metal in that rivet gun looks very grainy. Bad metal. I have used an Emhart Pop Rivetool for the last 20 years or so. My dad still has his that he bought in the early 1970s. Both are made in the USA and have never failed.

Try Emhart that might be under Stanley now. Arrow also makes good fastening tools.

Thanks, a swivel head is a must. We all know tool storage is limited so if one tool can do the work of 2 it is priceless.

OP, why start a new thread? It's really simple actually. We get you don't like craftsman tools made in China. In truth neither do I. And also you will do ANYTHING to get US made craftsman tools at dirt cheap prices, no matter how low you have to stoop. Quit buying craftsman tools if you want to make a point. What are you going to do when you need to warranty a tool and all they have is China made tools? Step it up a notch and buy SK and quit bitching. I just don't understand why you start all these threads? In reality it's things like you bragged about in your other deleted threads that helped sears corporate make the decision to make all the tools in China! But then after you flat out stole and committed fraud against sears and bragged about it you ***** about them sending production overseas. Do you just not get it? No you single handedly didn't force sears to go over seas but it was things like what you did that contributed to that decision. What exactly do you hope to accomplish after starting post after post about this same **** and having them get deleted?

In your other post you stated you wanted to stay and hang out on this great forum. But you continue to make these posts that get deleted and just don't get the hint. Read the responses from other members about you and asking for you to be banned over these posts. We all know craftsman went overseas, don't think there is anyone that is happy about that, but instead of starting post after post complaining about it exercise your voice with your wallet and stop buying craftsman like others including myself has done. If you are a die hard COO guy and only want US made tools then start doing research on this forum and asking questions about certain tools before you buy them. For example you were given many suggestions for a good rivet gun in this thread. If you want to only buy craftsman tools that is your choice and at the same time your problem but no reason to come here bitching about buying a low quality tool that broke. Find out who makes a good rivet gun and then find out where the best price is and buy it. I just don't get why you keep starting these posts only to end in the same results.

Not really pointless. It's good to let people know which tools to avoid. It's a huge hassle to buy a new tool and have it fail when you need it.

There are so many good brands of rivet guns on the market I would never consider a C man rivet gun.

Yes, years ago they were very good and made by name brand makers.

Obviously you haven't read the other 3 or 4 threads the OP has started bragging about how he stole and committed fraud against sears that were deleted? He loves screwing sears and doing whatever it takes to get craftsman tools as cheap as he can, no matter how low he has to stoop to do it. This is where 99% of these comments come from. He brags about screwing sears over and then starts threads bitching about quality of tools made in china. The OP says COO matters to him but only wants to buy craftsman and do so by exchanging items and keeping bits and pieces of each set because in his words he is OCD.
