All,

Recently purchased this set cause they are handy as all hell. I do wish I could have found a more complete set anyone know where I can find a a few more metric sizes and an 1in 15/16 or the correct combo? Having trouble with finding the same finish of wrenches?

I seen some of those at the pawn shop the other day don’t think they made a size bigger than the 7/8 though

It's hard to see all the sizes because it's white print against the light background of the chrome. I'd also like to see what the mfr code is on the wrenches. Is it a WF?

Here's a GJ thread on what appears to be the same or similar set. Based on this, looks like the only set/sizes they made.

My Blackhawks are satin. I rounded out with polished because it was out of my budget to buy what I was finding in satin.

Just an update yeah it appears i should have done a little more research and went with the raised panel wrenches. Still happy with the purchase, but it appears this is as complete as the satin finish wrenches get. VA# 44328. Thanks for the info and the link also.

I have the full polish pro ones from the 2005 ish time frame in metric and sae and their are the 15/16x1. And a 16mm x18mm 17mm x 19mm. I had/have never seen the satin finish version unfortunately.

Also as nice as I like the craftsman’s(and snap on version) the wrenches SAL showed or their hazet counterpart are superior due to the geometry of the offset. I bought a 1/2x9/16 single to try as I use the piss out of that size and they are great.

Not Craftsman but satin finish and more complete metric set. You will not be able to find better wrenches at this price.

$79.19 shipped to the USA

Sal, that is a good find. The 75 degree offset is a bit uncommon but very helpful. My Craftsman set are 40 degrees. To do the front struts on my VW you need a 60 degree or greater offset to get into the recess. At the time I ended up buying a Schweiban from ECS Tuning. My Craftsman set is about 6 years old and i am disappointed in the overall quality. This set looks nice and only skips the 21. I would rather it skipped the 20 but maybe in Europe the 20 is more common. I can not ever recall using a 20mm. I know they are out there.

I have the stahlwille set and have in fact used them to change the front struts on a vw. I am extremely happy with the quality. For some reason though when I ordered series 14 wrenches they weren't as nice.

No, 21 mm is far more common than 20 mm here in Europe too.

The set is limited by the spanners Stahlwille makes. They don’t appear to make a 21x22. They make a 20x22, which they include in the set even though the 20 isn’t much use. They make a 18x21, which would be useful but doesn’t fit the other members of the set. They make a 19x22, ditto. They make a 21x23, but 23 is pretty useless too. And they make a 21x24, which would be useful but, being bigger, would push up the price of the small set whose main attraction is low price.

Hazet sensibly skips the 20 mm in its similar but more expensive 630/8 set.

I am extremely happy with the quality. For some reason though when I ordered series 14 wrenches they weren't as nice.
In what way weren’t they as nice?

I got a rough set of Stabil 20 spanners a while ago. I ended up replacing them with Toptul AAEI spanners instead. I’ve slightly regretted not giving Stahlwille another try, because the geometry of the offset gave significantly better access than the geometry of the Toptul equivalent (they’re both listed as 75° but that means little), but I didn’t feel like rewarding Stahlwille for their sloppiness.

They didn't have the same feel in your hand, but the real issue is that the open end would sometimes spread and slip. I haven't had this same issue with the wrightgrips that replaced them.

thanks for that feedback....... who has every needed a 20mm?
Some day the German car companies will start using fasteners requiring a 20mm. It seems that is the way it often goes. :)
