I just bought a set of the craftsman diamond tip screwdrivers yesterday. Tried them out today on a Phillips screw. They GRIP! So well in fact that once the screw was out it took some real effort to get the screw off of the screwdriver. I'm impressed so far I like them a lot.

Can you take some closeups of the tips?

What is the COO?

Coo is China. I was going to grab a set for my road tool set but decided to just keep my Klein set. I still might. They are cheap and decent and them being cheap it won't hurt when I loose them. Which I will. It never fails

Um excuse me. Those are made in China if I remember correctly. They can't be any good. No one wants those on here.

This is a joke... Kind of... Depending who's reading this and what kind of mood they're in today... :dunno:

COO is China. No, I do not believe these are sold from open stock. This one set only.

They came out last year in a series of four "ExtremeGrip" tools. There was a thread about it here:
http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=287434

I own the original Stanley version of that vise-grip / adjustable wrench thing. It's actually not that bad.
I picked up the set of the sockets with surprise points. Still haven't used them for anything yet though.

Wera has offered diamond coated tips for a while now. I can't say I've tried them.
These screwdrivers are on my short list for surprise points spending, unless I find something else that catches my eye more next time I'm there.

My camera won't focus any closer then this. They have a rough coating on the tip that really does grip screw heads pretty good. Got them on sale for $19 so I can't complain.

Similar to these Stanley's (with a different handle) that were available at Lowe's. Haven't seen them in while though.

LB-1911, thanks for the link.

The 13-pc ratcheting, magnetic, AND sleeve/collared bit driver is on my list now!

Can I give a 'you ****' for a tool referral? I am not too sure of the protocol on GJ!

I posted about those last fall, nobody commented. figured I was the only one who owned a set. They are my go-to set currently. have been using them since they were introduced and had the $25 sale. I don't think they sell them individually, and not sure they will ever be able to be warranted, but I bought 2 sets. one is packed away for a backup. been using them almost daily for probably 5 months now. the tips have not worn off at all. it's like using a screwdriver with a bit of valve lapping compound on them, without getting messy.

there is absolutely no comparison to the standard craftsman clear handled junk...

Snap on has been offering diamond dust tipsforseversl years. Seems like a great idea. Kudos to craftsman for offering them. They should have made these under the professional umbrella and USA coo.

I decided to try a set and I'm not that impressed. We'll give them a few weeks and see how they workout.

Well, they were on sale for $19.99, so with $10 in surprise points expiring on Wednesday, I finally had to have them. Still haven't opened the package through, so I can't really comment on their quality or utility yet.

See my thread...they expanded the Extreme Grip screwdriver line. In addition to the 6 piece set, they are going to have a 10 and 14 piece screwdriver set. And they will sell them individually. I already have the 6 piece set, so this gives me a little collection to look forward to completing...

Made in China...I dont mind...afterall...I was too :p

Anyone worried that the tips are stronger than the screws? Rather break a cheaper screwdriver than deal with a stripped screw.

Or is the diamond stuff specifically for grippy and not strength?

It is specifically for the grip. In theory they would be less likely to deform a fastener.
