Another sears deal going on right now. 17.99 for 5 gear wrench flex head metric combos

When I asked about these.......both through the sears.com chat and through the 800 number, I was assured that they were made in USA!. Of course, when I got them.......China. UGH!
Called sears.com customer service..........they aren't even trying anymore.......they just told me to keep them and sent me a refund.
lol you got a free set?
New terminology being used. I saw it says "unlimited warranty" rather then the usual 'lifetime warranty'. Wonder if that translates to any change?

They are counting the days till they are bankrupt now.... here is hoping for a good home for craftsman.

I'd say that 2 or 3 of the American tool co's should band together and buy the Craftsman name and logo, divy up production based on each co's specialties, and then sell online. And have tool trucks that will go to every Jiffy Lube, car repair shop, and HVAC company from Timbucktoo to Maine.
I'd have to wonder if the name is worth anything, after you consider the liability of warranty expenses. I like to see a lifetime warranty on the tools I buy. I like to have my broken tools warranted without question, but that policy opens the doors to abusers who use the "100% satisfaction guaranteed" warranty to get tools replaced due to cosmetic blemishes, imperfect chrome, or rust.
Yeah... and then he went and ordered the SAE set... some people...I read this once a week on this forum.........exactly why seaars is going under.
My apologies... but that's not what your posts indicated.Ya know what organ...I'm usually wrong when I make a statement based on an assumption too!
I ordered both sets at the same time.
.......some people........

It's pretty common for companies when reformed after bankruptcy, to not honor the previous "company's" warranty.

Craftsman and Kenmore are separate entities and are not apart of Sears. Even if the latter goes bankrupt they'll still exist. They've been branching out the Craftsman brand for a reason (Tru-Value, Summitt, Grainger etc..).
From Wikipedia (admittedly not the definitive source on anything but it supports my argument so I'll use it):
"Kenmore Appliances is a brand of household appliances sold by Sears since 1927."
"Craftsman is a line of tools, lawn and garden equipment, and work wear controlled by Sears Holdings."
So somewhere inside Sears is an employee who is the Craftsman brand manager. (S)he likely has a bunch of people working from him who procure, buy, brand and market everything Craftsman inside and outside the Sears organization. Same for Kenmore.
If Sears goes bankrupt Craftsman and Kenmore are assets that could be sold off just like anything else the company owns.
I would think craftsman china is better than hf china? Most of their wrenches I've seen that are polished are different thickness, boxed enend very thick and sometimes not punched on center.
That definitely used to be the case but it seems like they've improved their quality in the last few years, my son has a set of their polished wrenches and they are better looking than some newer Craftsman raised panel wrenches that I have. Only time will tell how long they will hold up but he's been using them for a year with no noticeable wear.
I'm not familiar with the term "lobster claw" - what is that? They are lobster claws but nice for the price i guess. I went in and checked them out. Would have got some had they not been. My sears has them listed in add but not marked in store.
Craftsman, Kenmore, and Diehard are apart of KCD IP, LLC which is in turn controlled by Sears Holdings which includes Kmart (not just Sears). My point is if Sears itself goes bankrupt those brands are unaffected other than losing that distribution chain, they don't go down with the ship.

It's thicker metal around the open end appearing like a lobster's claw.
Thanks. The regular ones are that way too. time to upgrade, and I'll sell off the other ones for damn-near this much anyway. My Sears store has several in stock. I'm headed over there now to pick some up. It's a decent deal for what they are.
