People getting the polished wrench sets - what is the condition of the finish? Seems most of the boxes just have the tools rattling around in them. Are they in the wrench roll?

My local stores have the SAE sets, can anyone find the 14 pc metric sets of these?

then ones sold at the main line store are loose, and the kits do not come in rolls. The industrial were never really sold in stores. And I would not be surprise the ones at the outlets are slight flaws or returns.

I'd like to order the metric 14 pc Industrial set with pouch online since there are no outlet stores in my area. I did find a 14pc set, but the sizes are not quite the same as the set referenced by the OP, and there is no pouch. Anyone know if this set is USA?

That's a bad price, I bought 7-18 and 1/4-3/4 for $55 6 months ago...honestly I wouldn't buy them for that price. Just me though.

The SAE set was in the roll. The metric set had the wrenches in a plastic bag. The finish looks ok to me. Then again... I'm not as obsessive as some.

^^^Apples to Oranges comparison.

You're probably referring to the 18 pc set. That was a good deal but that set started small and ended medium.

These sets go to the large end. (ex:27mm)

The one he linked to goes to 21mm I don't think there are any more mm Industrial sets out there

I bought one set of almost everything they had including a Digitork torque wrench 1/2". Some of the wrenches had tool wraps, some were loose. Some of the socket sets were loose and had an included but shrink-wrapped steel socket bar (the cheapo ones). All were in good shape. One of the ratcheting Gear wrench type flex heads was stiff but other wise in perfect condition.
I think that these are not returns but phase outs. The last of the USA made stuff. They are in original sealed cardboard and since they are showing up all over the country in such large quantities, I can't believe they are returns.
Good stuff, great prices. I'm filling my box and hoarding.

I wonder if you can warranty them in store or not... since it's industrial brand.

I have seen them in the Sears Outlet .com site. Search the tab "products in your area" by your zip code.

Warranty? I bet these are the last of the "Industrial" line and if you turned one in you'd get something less. So ya, you'll get a warranty but not the same quality. That is the problem with Sears right now with all Craftsman stuff. No matter what you break, you're getting Chicom in return, and maybe not full polish?
As I've mentioned in another thread on this topic, I'm a hobbyist, not a pro mechanic and I rarely break stuff except when I misuse the wrong tool for a prybar. Lesson I've learned...use the right tool and if that isn't possible, use something cheap that you don't mind breaking.

You're probably right... and if so, is it any wonder Sears ***** at making money?

"Hey guys, we've got a bunch of our really nice, expensive USA made stuff left over, what should we do with it? Hey, I know, let's throw it all in the outlets at clearance prices!" :eyecrazy:

Most bean counters don't turn wrenches. :(

I have to think they know they're killing the brand steadily sending production overseas. Aside from being able to warranty it easy, Craftsman's only real appeal was that they were affordable USA made tools. If they're gonna go Chicom, I can buy from HD or Lowe's cheaper, and probably have a closer store to warranty them at.

Just picked up the 14 piece metric set on my lunch break. Used the rest of my sears points so only cost me a lil over $40. These are nice!

Same here...got the last metric polished set at the Indy store. You will not find a better 14 piece polished wrench set for $75

Chris where are you? Searsoutlet.com doesn't list any in stock even though they have some. You can order but pay shipping, I would like to do that, I just need to call a store that has a set in stock.

The Florence KY store was pretty lame. They only had the smaller metric set (no roll, 7mm-21 minus the 20mm).

I was debating this anyway, I already have a full 13pc. sets (SAE and Metric) of the Craftsman Pros (SK's) but I figure some back ups wouldn't hurt and I wouldn't mind have some of the larger sizes (my sets only go to 1" and 19mm) but honestly don't use wrenches enough to worry about it. The $160 could be better spent on tools I don't already have.

i need an sae set please someone :D

why don't you order it online? there are lots of sae sets and they ship! sure you'll have to pay a shipping charge but it will probably be cheaper than someone buying it, shipping it and charging you a service fee

Think it is more the fact that sears realized they just do not get the industrial buyers. And they are giving up on selling the industrial in house and letting grainger deal with that market. If you look at the grainger website, they are adding more industrial wrenches form craftsman.

But if you look at it form a business standpoint craftsman pro and industrial never sold well at their stores. Most buyers do not want to pay 3x the money for the pros or the industrial when the RP's just work well enough for them. All it does id sit on the shelf, that is why the US made professional stuff still can be found at stores, even though they have been out of productions for couple years now.

Same set at grainger, this is pretty recent.
