Craftsman Lathe experts--please ID

How much it's worth depends on lots of things. Primarily availability of that class of lathe in your area.
That's an atlas made lathe, no quick change gearbox, looks like no chuck but there are some collets there I think, no steady rest.
I wouldn't go more than $400-$500 if it does not have a chuck and various other items.

Yep, Atlas made Craftsman. That one looks exactly like the one I have. It appears to be a babbit bearing model. Nothing wrong with that. Atlas/ Craftsman were the first hobby lathes that the average guy could set up and use. Mine has a few limitations, mostly I wish it were a little bigger. That said it's a great lathe to learn on/ use every once in a while.
The wonderful thing about Atlas lathes today is that 90% of the parts are available new through Clausing. I had to make some repairs to the apron on my lathe when I bought it, and I got all the parts direct from them for less than used parts were going for on eBay.
I can see the tailstock on the bottom shelf, and looks like the change gears and a drill chuck as well. As Steve said, there's no chuck in the picture. You can buy them on eBay, but it's more money. It may be in the drawer?
If that's new tooling and cutters in those little boxes on the bottom shelf, that can be worth a bit as well.

That's the little 6" swing lathe, if there are no chucks, I wouldn't pay more than $300. A 10" swing or better is a much more capable lathe. Never seen a quick change on a 6" Atlas/Craftsman.

That is not a 6" lathe. The Compound is wrong (taller then a 6) and it appears to have a knob for power cross feed just under the cross feed dial handle.

Point out to the Estate sale staff the chuck is part of the lathe, and should be sold with it.
Also a bit behind the chuck on the table is an atlas X/Y table for a DP another nice item to watch...
And I agree at least a 10" possibly a 12, those bench legs look to be 2X6...

That is definitely a 10-12" and there looks to be a milling attachment possibly on that table with the chuck. I would mention the things on the table with the handles similar to the lathe, goes with the lathe as well. Along with the yellow tagged item by the jelly jar.

9Four, you talking about the stuff in the plastic tray at the back? I'm not sure what that is. there is also the block of something in between, and that may go with the plastic tray stuff. the tray definitely has a hand crank/lead screw of some type.
Ha ha, yea I saw that too. It looks like they have some nice stuff but I have a feeling prices will be high based on what I saw in the pics. Unfortunatly I'm booked solid those days otherwise I'd try to go and see the sale in person. Looks like a neat place to dig through though. If you do go can you let me know how much they had on the craftsman box?

That's a quick $1000 here. I sold one exactly like it last year (2012) for 1100 with minimal tooling. The compound is correct if mine was and it worked fine. I'd make a play for the machine and everything on the table. You can sell off duplicates and bring your net cost down. I don't know where goldhawg lives, but I'd drive 500 miles to buy that for 500.

Having owned both a 6" Atlas, and a 10" Atlas, I'll stand by my statement that is a 6". Don't think they made a 9. 10 or 12 inch with that style lead screw reverse. Look at the pics here http://www.lathes.co.uk/atlas/index.html

The conduit (EMT and flex) is 1/2" dia...
That oatmeal container on the bottom shelf is 5" in diameter...
The electrical box on the wall are about 4" long...
There are 1X8 fence boards on the floor next to the 2X6" (5-1/2") bench legs...
The center of the spindle to the lath bed is clearly at least as much as the width of the bench legs...
I don't think my eye is that far off, regardless of similar features...

I have a 6 inch, and that is not a 6 inch headstock.

It's a 12" lathe, I had one just like it I sold a couple years ago, It's NOT a 6", I've had one of those also, completely different.
They made 10" and 12" models in this style, the visual clue between the 2 is the raised tool post area on the compound, on a 10" the top tool post slot was at the same height as the rest of the compound rest. The 12" compound is raised 1" as in the picture.
The lead screw reverser is correct also.
This one has the plain bearing spindle, later models had timken style bearings.
I got $700 out of mine 2 years ago with 3 and 4 jaw chucks, a quick change gearbox, and a nice heavy metal cabinet.
People get all excited about the QC gearboxes, yet in reality you don't have to change feeds very often, and changing is not really a huge hassle.

A 7" mini lathe uses a 3" chuck. Someone is confusing the difference between swing and distance from center line to bed, one being a radius and the other a diameter.

It's almost certainly a 12" For comparison, I bought a very similar one yesterday on CL in New York state for $600 with a steady rest and a set of cast iron legs.
Assuming that one is in good condition, it seems to be reasonably well tooled. If you could get it for $500, you'd be doing pretty well.
Some of the critical parts (gears etc) are Zamak... a special type of metal that's apparently designed to break when you need it most and it's impossible to repair. That makes replacement parts expensive, so make sure that it's all intact.
PS - Those pictures look familiar... you'd better hope you get there before I do.

I'd probably go for whatever is in the tool boxes if there is anything in them. I'd expect some measuring tools, hss tooling, small screwdrivers, scales, scribes, files, ...
Your getting a lathe so the 123 blocks, parallels, end mills don't help too much with lathe work. I assume you'd have to buy/bid on everything so I'd pick and choose out of those.
The tap handles and taps are useful and if they are in good shape and good quality they can save you lots of money along the way.
It's too hard to tell what some of the things on the very right are, they could be useful but not sure.
