The Craftsman Club is a farce anymore. With the inclusion of SYWR and the Craftsman Club, there is no longer any exclusivity of sale pricing with the Craftsman Club anymore.

+1, now they use some app that provide coupons. The guy in the tool department showed me the app about a month ago and I wound up spending around 20 minutes looking for coupons I could use for my purchase. Every purchase also gives you credit for your next purchase, so I bought a big item first then bought a lesser item for free with my credits a little while later.
The iPhone app is called "shop your way".

You will like those pry bars, I have the bigger ones and the smaller ones as well.

Good because I refuse to join any of those deal clubs, rebates, coupons, etc.
There's ALWAYS a hidden scam.

I picked them up for $19.99 before Xmas and haven't opened them yet. Been thinking of returning because I really would like the striking caps the pros have. Are the caps worth the extra coin though?

I have one of the larger red handled bars (about 26") and use it professionally....no complaints. I also have some HF bars, but they are not as sturdy.

I have a little Sears story involving these pry bars. I was at Sears on Monday of this week. I brought about half a dozen items including the bars up to the cashier. Now, before I went I looked up my planned purchases on Craftsman.com. The pry bars and two other items I took to the counter were on sale on the Cman website. They were great deals, around half off, on the few Cman USA items I still want/need.

When the salesman finished ridiculing his coworker for slipping on the wet floor, he started ringing me up. I showed him the online prices and eventually he says they will match the two other tool(s) prices but not the pry bar. The pry bars went back to the shelf.

Today I return to the same store and again bring a few things up to the counter. A different set of employees were working and the guy ringing the tools up says no on the pry bar price match. I pointed out I could buy them on my phone right now and select store pickup. Another salesguy walks over and says they can price match, the guy ringing me up says, "I was told we can't".

So I get the bars, which are quality tools as everyone else has noted, for 20 bucks after the manager comes over and approves the price match. I am a Cman club member which I told them so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

The take away from this for me is that not everyone at Sears is on the same page it seems. Not surprising I guess I mean it happens elsewhere but I always have an experience like this when I shop at sears. If you don't get satisfaction from one salesman, try a different one later.

I don't go there often but when I do there is always some angry customer there trying to get answers about something they had ordered or warrantied or some other complaint, That's not an exaggeration.

On a positive note, today I asked the employee who helped me what was going on with the clearance prices on all of the big tool sets. I was thinking it was the sign of some type of change. He told me they're going to replace the current sets and kind of pare down the total number of sets. I told him of my concerns about the future of Sears and he told me the store had just signed a five year lease on their mall space.

For whatever it's worth to you, that's my story. Have a good one!

How do these compare to the Craftsman Pro/Mayhew bars? Was looking at the Mayhew 3 piece set with a different 3 piece set for free on ntxtools.com and was wondering if that was worth a $98.01 price tag vs $20 for these.

Harry epsteins has the longer bars to match those craftsman if you need them. <---- great prices.

Or if you go to tractor shows, and cars too I imagine, the Minnesota (?) folks with all the new tools (Channellock/Milton/Taiwan/Chicago Pneumatic) have lots of Wilde branded ones for good prices :rocker:

I picked the pry bars up the other day for $19.99. They're very nice.

Nowadays with Sears, when I know what I want, I just place a site to store order then just drive over. That way there's no worrying about price match or dealing with employees that don't care. Also helps out with impulse purchases. :D

I have these pry bars and I'm not a pro just a weekend guy but I beat the snot out of them and they work great!

They don't have striking caps but bought on sale at <$20 I hit them with a hammer pretty regularly and they manage to hold up fine.

I imagine that at some point I may break a handle but for less the $20 I for sure have gotten my money's worth out them.

The Craftsman Pro 3 piece pry bar set is normally about $50.00. So if that's the set you're referring to, the different 3 piece isn't exactly "free". The pro bars are definitely nicer with better handle and striking caps. $98 vs. $20 better? No way. Now $50 vs $20 and I say it's almost worth it. I think they go on sale every once in awhile for $5.00 off or thereabouts.

I should have added that I guarantee that Craftsman will drop one of these sets soon and probably the Pros. If that happens you'll probably be able to grab them for half off and that would be an awesome deal.

It just seems strange that the current Sears has two different pry bar sets, close in quality and function, and both Made in the USA?? It doesn't jive with the way they're headed.

Apparently I have $10.45 worth of their points I can use, with tax and shipping that brings the Pro set to $44.97. At that price I wouldn't even consider the $98 set, especially since I don't think that at this very moment I have a need for 6 pry bars, I think three will suit me just fine.

So now it begs the question are the $44.97 Craftsman Pro worth it as compared to the $21.15 Craftsman (they won't let me use the $10 off since it's under a certain amount).

Signing a new lease does not mean squat. If/when SEARS finally goes bankrupt, they can add property management company they signed the lease with on the list of all their other creditors and break the lease.

Yeah I know it means squat but the poor feller thought it was a guarantee they'd be around for a while yet. I feel sorry for the majority of the employees at Sears.

In my experience most are doing the best they can. They get most of tongue lashings from customers through no fault of their own but rather due to the asinine decisions that are made by those who make more in a day than the grunts make in months~~~year. In fact, the only one I ever gave the business to was the guy that "helped" me the first time I tried to get the pry bars for their online price.

I have had that same set of Craftsman pry bars for several years. I use them for work and they have held up well. I do strike them but they are not meant for striking so I wouldn't get too carried away. But a little wrap here and there is fine.

I ground a groove in the end of one of them to use as a brake spring tool on tractor/trailer brake shoe springs and still pry with it too and it still has held up fine.

They don't compare to the Mayhew striking bars at all. Thus the price difference. The Mayhews are MUCH heavier and the striking handles can handle damned near anything. So it depends on what you need to use them for. For $20 I would buy them in a minute.

I'm just glad to see these relationships going. Sears selling these helps a small town stay afloat near me. Wilde is in Hiawatha KS. The whole town lives off of the one company, which Sears is probably the largest customer.

I bet Harbor Freight never purchased anything from Wilde. So Kudos to Sears.

Went to Sears and got a set. I had to buy it online and wait about ten minutes for the order to get to the store's system. Seamless transaction.

I ordered a couple sets after finding $10 in surprise points sitting in my account... $15/set is a great deal.

That's what I was gonna do, but then I go back today and the points are gone, guess they ended that promotion. So I'll probably pick up the Mayhew set on Amazon, J&B Tool Sales is selling them on Amazon for $49.95 with fulfillment via Amazon, which means free 2 day shipping for me.

I've had my Craftsman bars for about 12 years, never needed to "upgrade" them. I say they're a great deal and one of the few made in USA products left @ Sears.

My 2 sets showed up yesterday and they seem like a great deal for the price. But I was a bit perplexed when I saw the 4 ft long box leaning against my garage... considering the actual packaging is maybe 26 inches long. They must use the same packing training as Amazon :D

For the 3-piece set,

With Shop Your Way, Its $40 Shipped in my Cart. I just bought the regular $20 set over a month ago, can't return the item. Is it worth the $40 extra for the pro set? What am I suppose to do with the $20 set?

Just picked up my set earlier. $19.99 + $1 filler - 10000 surprise points - 10000 points (from my wife's account). I really like these bars, made in US, heavy duty and well made. I could have use it last wk when replacing steering rack bushings, but I am sure I will find a way to use them on future projects. Thanks everyone for letting me know about these bars.

$10 after Surprise Points, but already went with the Mayhew Pro, this set is resilient.
I would have gone with the Craftsman (non-pro) set if I didn't find the need to hammer onto something.
