Are these any good? They are $9 for the set right now, I can't go wrong at this price? I have 90 degree keys and and those flip out ones, but balled end is better right? The only thing I would say is T handle maybe more suitable for bench type assembly work than under the hood..

I've got a set of those and I use a few of the sizes all the time working on bikes. The ball end is handy if you don't have a straight shot at the head of the bolt. For 9 bucks, you can't go wrong.

Yeah, spend 2 hours, talk to 8 departments, get hung up on twice, and a promise to refund your money.

EH, I have low confidence in those drivers, they just seemed awkward when I handled them in-store.

I have Bondhus t-drivers and plan on getting P-handle drivers for my bike. For general purpose work, I guess these will do, though.

I would hold out for these. The handles seem much nicer and I like the hex that comes out the side of the handle. They are worth the extra money, when on sale.

I went into the store to see if they would match the deal but they had be do the buy over the computer right in the store with pickup in store and the guy brought them over to the tool dept to give them to me
I would not have bought them unless I got the deal.
they are worth $9, but I do not think I would have paid $18 for them

I got in on this. Paid online -- no store had both sets listed as "in stock" but knowing how things work, I'm going to my closest one and going to try to get them both there.

if do the buy online at the computer as the store the shipping is free

bob

Thanks Bob, but their system indicates that they are out of stock of metric in one store and SAE in the other store. SO -- even at the computer in the store I wouldn't be able to get the order to go through. From past experience I know this and it was a huge ordeal to get it to work. Also from past experience I know their systems are horribly inaccurate and I fully expect to find both sets in stock in the first store I stop at. That's why I plan to try to get both and I suppose I'll have to cancel the other order or let them do it somehow -- another huge ordeal no doubt.

But for some reason I keep coming back...

Adam,
I just got back from my local Sears with the same issue you're having. What I did was print out my shopping cart and the page where it shows they are out of stock for local pickup. I took both of these to the store and the manager matched the online price for me. I even got an extra 10% off for a price match or something like that, walked out with both sets for $17.55.

Mine is ready for pick up, the only risk is that they can't find it when I go there.. sometimes happens..

I really wanted this for assembling things like RTA furniture and adjusting stuff around the house.. so I can throw away all the odd cheap hex keys that are not sorted at all.
The handle may not be heavy duty but just go into sears for warranty if you do break them. For torqued stuff I use ratchet and the hex drive bits..

When I signed in it would show an additional Craftsman club discount on top of the 50% off the sale price. But when I went to check out instead of an additional discount it would add the number to the total instead of subtract it making it more expensive than the sale price. Each time I tried this in the span of thirty minutes it did the same thing except the amount of the club discount/penalty kept changing by a buck or three. I called customer service and actually got someone right away. I had him place the order signed in as me so he could understand the problem. Then he put in a credit for the difference on my card. This seemed like the customer service I remember from the good old days of Sears. I guess I should reserve judgment until the credit comes through. If it works out, I got both the SAE and metric set for less than five dollars each.

Your mileage may vary.:dunno:

I actually found out about this deal from a motorcycle forum I'm on. I was just coming over here to hip everyone here to it, only to find out I'm late as always. :D

As an update, I did get my T-handles. But not without some hassle. (Surprise!)

I knew these were on clearance so I went ahead and bought them online for in-store pickup, even though I could only buy one set at one store and the other at another store. Figured I would try for both at the first store and if not I would have the other set reserved at the other store.

Well, as expected, the inventory system was wrong and the first store did have both sets. Then it became a hassle to cancel the order for the other store so I could buy them both from this store. After that was finally accomplished, one of the salesmen trying to "help" cancelled my order for the store I was standing in as well. Oops. Then, the real challenge started. I had to argue my way up to a manager because the sales associate would not budge and kept saying that I could only buy them for that price online, even though I had my now cancelled pickup reciept for that store showing the price and my now cancelled pickup reciept for the other store showing the same price. Finally, after getting to a manager, it was easy to get them to see the situation. Then after a price adjustment, I got my T-handles for the right price. :shocking:

Now I just have to see if they actually do credit me back the online sales -- I'm still waiting for a credit on another sale from over a month ago.
