Here are some Craftsman toolboxes I have or used to have. I may have a slight weakness for collecting toolboxes.

It was a recent acquisition from a retiring electrician. All of the tools that I picked up from him were in that kind of condition, almost like new. I couldn't find any model number. It just says Craftsman commercial in the crown logo.

I like the stickers, a Craftsman purist may say, 'defacement!' I say, 'it's his history of mechanics from when he was young. ' Yes, you could clear-coat it, but as long as you keep it out of the sun, do you need to?

One of my friends bought the Hi-Point inventory years ago, along w/the OSSA distributorship business for the East Coast/USA. He got a lot of stuff of interest from that era, including a **** Mann Replica that had never been run, it was a lobby piece at the business office. I have a Hi-Point enduro jacket which is stoutly-built. It's very heavy nylon in a soft gold color, he wore it to Daytona one year, and I bought it off his back. No CE armor in this baby, I don't think that stuff even existed then. Lots of pockets for spare parts, I'd guess, a mandarin collar, and adjustable snaps. it's like a Belstaff jacket, generally, I bought one of those new, pants too, the waxed-cotton garmet finally dry-rotted apart. Here's an ad for an Italian supplier of motocross clothing of the time, I have a pair of these boots, still serviceable.

My mom bought me this box for Christmas in about 1970?.
I put in the collection of stickers from my days of hanging around a cycle shop and racing enduros.

I like the idea someone posted previously about clear coating it as is

I'm looking for a vintage craftsman middle section for the red and gray set for sale. I would purchase the complete set if needed as well. Ive been looking for years for my dad and would really like to get this for him.

Any info would be helpful.

Those middle boxes are extremely hard to come by. I've seen a couple change hands here on GJ, but have never seen one for sale out in the wild. Good luck!

Well, I just had to do it. I got this chest from a pawn shop today. I'd been eyeing it for a while, but it had a few junky tools in it, and a $59.95 price tag. I asked how much for just the box. The nice lady said 5 bucks. Of course, I can't own it unless it is all mashed and rusted up. I would have paid 5 for just the emblem, so I think it was a good deal. This one will go on the back burner for now til I finish my other Craftsman tool chest project.

Dkroth, looks like you got a brand new shiny setup. Let us know how you like it after you' e used it for a while. Looks sharp.

I bought the roll cab new in 1998. Let me use it a few more years before I make up my mind.

The side box is probably 2000 or 2001.

The top box is a month old. Got it when azsportpilot posted it over in the Sears hot deals thread.

I like the setup. It's a little shallow but that's probably better for the basement where space isn't as plentiful as the garage. That's my basement box.

Well at least that one's not rusted and you should be able to get that back in good shape. If you look in the front left corner of the top compartment those actually have a date stamp.

Thanks I'm going to go look now for the date. I actually am thinking about using it for parts: I want to make a small roll cart that looks vintage and put the two drawer on the top. I have a few ideas in mind. I might even build around it. My head is swimming with crazy ideas!

Just picked this combo up from my granddad's house.

Ever since his strokes, he's been selling his tools and equipment off. There's been some other stuff I missed out on like is welder and torch set up (bottles, lines and torches) and lathes, mills and drill presses, but I got this top and bottom box slammed full of tools. These will get used next to the vintage grey and red craftsman that was full of tools that he gave me last year.

That idea sounds familiar. LOL

I just saw this on local CL.

Sorta. I want it to me a little more mobile, so I was thinking service cart. The kind that has chrome square tubing, and maybe one or two drawers with an open bottom shelf. I don't have a picture yet.

The story , ......... I bought it a couple of months ago for $30 , it was listed on Kijiji.

My memory is a little hazy and I'm not sure but I think these were a limited edition in the craftsman catalog back in the 90's , 80's ???

I was hoping someone would look at my pics and respond with a ... Hey , I remember those , they are rare , hard to find and sold out quickly when they were available .

Only available in Canada ??

Someone knows

We get different stuff here , as in , the selection of Craftsman tools is different . It seems that the stuff that's available in US stores is a much greater selection of tools. Craftsman in Canada has downsized , what is displayed in stores now is a fraction of what was available in years past.

I worked for sears for 21 years and every year there would be something new or "limited edition" that would come out for the tool bar (the Christmas tool area). I don't remember that one, but it could have been a catalog order piece. Also I always understood it as Sears Canada was a separate entity from us here in the states, explaining why they didn't get the items we did.

Love the old craftsman... Picked this up for $25 with the tools included.

It included this ratchet.. Never saw one like this, not sure how old but it works real smooth and has a good weight to it.

I used to sit in a room at sears years ago with 55 gallon drums full of ratchets and refurbish them for customers or as stock for replacements when people brought ratchets in. I always loved how smooth this ratchet worked. With the double snap rings they were a pain to fix but nice ratchet. Sears no longer carries that replacement kit for the head but maybe somebody else has it. If you ever see another one at a yard sale might want to grab it for parts.

I've been trapped in my house over the Christmas break. Whenever this happens, I turn to advanced searches of the Internet to satisfy my tool addiction.

I've scoured the country looking for an early 1960s Remline top box and came up empty (of course). During the process, I noticed something interesting about the Craftsman red and grey boxes. There are literally dozens of them for sale at any given moment. Prices are all over the map too.

For example, the attached stack is for sale in Rochester, NY and the guy would take 100 for the entire stack. Meanwhile, in New Mexico, a guy has the same stack in much worse shape for sale for $500. Crazy.

I've owned a toolbox similar to Mooreag47's and AdrianBoomer's for years and never realized it ( probably due to the '70's Mac badge the former owner installed,

now that I know what it is, I may try to make a reproduction badge for it and repaint it.

It's listed for $150. Did you speak with him already?

I'll go pick it up and hold it for you if you Paypal me the $$

Here's another one for $250 which seems to have two extra drawers on the bottom.

I really appreciate the offer and if I was after one of these stacks for myself, I would take you up on it. I turned over that posting to a buddy who lives in the Albany area but travels to Rochester pretty often. He tells me the guy would take 100 just to get rid of it.

I'm after a 1960s Remline top box. Another GJ member tried to help me out the same way that you have but the seller went bananas and in the end, kept the box. He sold it to me, then unsold it, then wanted more, then when I agreed to pay more, it was no longer for sale. lol. God bless the Internet, but I digress.

If you ever see a Remline top box that looks like the one I have posted up in the WANTED section of this site, please let me know. It's currently the top priority on my acquisition list.

Thanks! :)

I'm far from an expert in the old Craftsman boxes. I would have never noticed that the badging is wrong. lol

That's a badge from the next era which has a red box and black/ charcoal drawers. It did have the same drawer construction and same pulls but different paint.

Crazy, indeed! I'd pay $100 for those in a heartbeat.

Ask and ye shall receive.
Drawer of impacts and some 3/4" stuff in the bottom.

Old Craftsman Tap and Die set. Most of the taps look new.

I'll probably never need to buy a chisel or punch again.

Not even sure what this is.

Little 1/4" Craftsman socket set

Drawer full of assorted Craftsman screwdrivers with a few Snappy's mixed in. Now I can say I own Snap-On tools

Little wrench drawer, most Made in USA Craftsman

Big wrench drawer, mainly Craftsman and Proto

But wait, there's more.

Bunch of vise grips, adjustable wrenches, and a metric wrench off to the side.

Some random stuff and a Craftsman but driver set.

**** ton of clamps

No clue what this is. Best guess is some sort of tool for bushings but it's Craftsman.

This Craftsman 1/2" Torque Wrench

And then this ratchet that needs a rebuild.
