Craftsman Wrench Storage Ideas

I've got two sets of craftsman combos from 1/4 to 1-5/16 and 6mm-32mm. Right now I have them hanging on peg board, which is the only tool that is not in one of my boxes.

Are there any trays for storing these in a 26" box? I like to keep my drawers organized so just laying them in there will not work for me.

Very tough, but I have 3 stacks of 26" boxes so using a couple drawers (or even four) wouldn't be a problem.

I use these in my HF 26" and in the short drawer in my HF 5-drawer cart. In the 26" it is in the 1 1/2" drawer of the bottom box. It doesn't hold the large wrenches or allow for multiples, but it keeps the small wrenches from getting lost. And I can find the SAE or Metric wrench I need easily.

Try using copper wire springs like I do. The largest wrench in this photo is a 32 mm at the left rear. The drawer is 24" (red HF 5 drawer cart).

I just got the 26" box recently and am still organizing it but of course I have used some of those wrenches on projects every day. Some are brand new(ratcheting and stubbies), just got a deal on and have not had the chance to use.

I like the magnetic wrench racks for Ez Red Company. They're not cheap but they make grabbing, and putting away, a wrench easy.

I used to just lay them down in a couple short drawers in my old 26". But that was a pita so i habe 3 bank snapon boxes now.

I recently needed to re-organize my wrenches so was looking around at many of the options out there (some of which are posted here already). I don't like the tray types for some reason, maybe it's because they don't seem as versatile (custom). I had to trim them to fit my tool box, but that's fine, I don't have a bunch of super tiny wrenches anyway, or at least not that are part of a set. I then cut up the HF wrench organizer and used a few pieces out of that for my smaller wrench sets (flare nut...etc).

I don't have a lot of history with wrench organization, but during my research over the past couple weeks the Ernst definitely seemed like the best option for the price. For your 43 piece set it'd be hard fitting all of them into one drawer, but there would be tons of space to do two separate drawers, one SAE and one Metric. Personally I like mine organized like that anyway since I really only use Metric. Up until last week all my SAE wrenches were stored away in a small "overflow" tool box that never got opened. Prior to that all my SAE stuff stayed in the original packaging for a couple years after I bought my set of tools, lol.

Here's my wrench drawers. These are all Ernst wrench racks. 1/4"-1 1/4" and I'm pretty sure 5mm-27mm. I keep my larger wrenches in the bottoms drawer.

I keep mine in the Craftsman wrench rolls/pouches. Once they are rolled up I take a silver sharpie and label them. Metric, Standard, Metric-R (ratcheting) Standard-R, Metric-F (flare) , Standard-F.

i use a system very similar, but my coils are tapered for the large to small wrenches, and they are made out of a blue nylon coated solid core wire. i dont think its copper, maybe annealed steel? id have to look. but i have two drawers of wrenches, metric and sae, two of the bigger left bank 44" HF box, and they are jammed full just like pentdragons,

When the wrenches get to large for the wrench rack I just put them all in a drawer. I have a drawer for Metric and one for SAE. I have my 41 and under in the drawers. You so seldom use them that it is not hard to pick out what you want. I have 2 or 3 of every size in box, combo and open ended. They are all different brands. I have sets of wrenches that go to 1-1/4" but after that I just picked up any good US or German brand. I have not paid more than $10 for any of them except for my larger proto. I have the 1-1/2" and up to 2 inch along with the 43 to 50mm hanging on the wall behind my late. I never use them but the sure look cool. LOL They are the only thing hanging in my shop.
