Splitting the difference is a hell of a lot more than a lot of people would do. He should be appreciative of that.

Just made contact with seller. He said instead of me paying 50 to him, Forty would cover it just fine. As I was saying from the beginning, he really is a decent guy. And for a total of 360, I got a great deal with items that total over 1000.
Well, that is good that you will both be satisfied with that deal. I hope that you still give him a hard time about his math skills when you drop off the $$$.
The seller should be the one that has to come pick up the money.

Now the ball is in his court. I will return everything, or nothing. There will be no hard feelings on my part. I will not hold a grudge in this no matter what the outcome is. If I give him everything back, and in the future he lists something on Craigslist, I will still buy from him if the price is right.

before we sealed the deal, I said with a very straight face, "and a case of Budweiser" . The translater told them and they all looked around at each other saying "Budweiser ?" . They then busted up laughing and I saw a whole different side to these guys. We got the job and one day they showed up on a "field trip" and they had a case of Bud and 1 of Bud light. I don't know if there's a moral here , but it still makes me smile![]()

Too bad we can't all deal with MEN like you. Although I can understand why people would want to walk away and keep the tools, money is money after all, I think it's time we put away the greed and make decisions based on what is right and wrong. No offence meant to others, we are all entitled to our opinions.
I just noticed that youre from Newport News. Sorry for the threadjack. ME TOO
It doesn't have a thing to do with greed. It's amazing how casually that word is thrown around, without a clue as to what it really means.
It's sad that's what you took away from this.
I disagree sir.
His final decision was based not on the value of the goods or the money or in fact the desire to acquire goods or money (the very definition of greed). The decision would seem to be based on the relationship and his own moral convictions (rather then keeping the $100 bucks in his pocket).
What I took away from this is that there are people less concerned with the acquisition of material goods or wealth and more concerned with what they feel is the best decision both morally and in the best interest of the relationship.
IMO
However, to each his own opinion and I may have placed my own interpretation on this situation.
Overall, great debate. In the end, a resolution that both sides were happy with.
