Scored some neat cabinets from craigslist today, they should hopefully clean up and be pretty nice... Considering selling a few but not sure which ones yet, there are 12 total.

At that price, I'd probably find a use for all of them. Had you paid more, I would try to sell a few to recoup some cash but that is a YOU **** price there

I looked
and I looked again.
I'm just seeing some really mismatched boxes that at one time had specific uses that may be hard to make generic use of, and unless I'm missing something will not look good together at all.

What am I missing that this is a sucked type buy?

apparently an eclectic style?...

every one of those is cool just by it's self... and he got what, 11 of them for $200?
and he didn't come on here telling everyone he deserved a "you ****" like some people do, and which, frankly *****

ergo: he gets a well deserved "you ****"

Awesome score. Been looking for some similar cabinets locally without much luck. Definitely jealous, and you definitely **** for this score.

You guys are definitely right, they don't match... However I don't have a themed garage, I move a LOT, and I'm deployed for half the year every year since about 2008. I will likely keep the ones that will be useful to me, which I'm not even sure which ones will be yet - my girlfriend and I are going to clean them out today, scrub them down, and maybe even see what one looks like with some wax. I'll throw some pictures on here to show y'all how they're coming along.

If anyone near Sacramento wants one feel free to just PM me

Yeah, I'll agree

YOU ****

Plex....don't take it wrong.....when you get a "YOU ****" and only have 7 post total, you pretty much Rock!!!! Around here a lot of people don't get a "YOU ****". That is an esteemed award only given for fantastic deals.

One rule to remember though, you can't come on here and ask for a YOU ****, nor can you give yourself a YOU ****. YOU ****'s can only come from other members.

BTW.....Welcome to Garage Journal, and yes...all of those cabinets for less than $200, you definitely get a YOU ****!!!:rocker:

I haven't seen a deal around here for those type of cabinets for that amount of money. Usually a lot more money for a lot less cabinet (quantity, quality, age et al)

Here is a pic of the inside of one of the sparkplug cabinets, managed to clean a few of the cabinets today... The Hilti cabinet came out the best so far (still needs some goo gone to get rid of tape marks and stuff)

Jealous - very nice!

Don't be TOO jealous yet, I haven't cleaned them all up yet but some of them definitely have some dents/rust going on... I need to stop by the harbor freight by my girlfriends house on the way home tomorrow and pick up some body work dollys to hopefully pound out the edges and some of the minor dents in the panels.

Should I leave the rust as 'patina'? Or just take them to the powdercoaters and have them blasted / powdercoated over everything?

Maybe, like me and a lot of others, he wants to equip his garage with useful stuff at bargain prices because he's not made of money and isn't interested in interior design with matching colour schemes and soft furnishings?:dunno:

Nicely done, cool find. Definite 'you ****' award. Every one of the GJ garages could benefit from a patina'd repurposed cabinets as a working device that doubles as a showpiece. "Oh, that neat NAPA cabinet came from a guy serving in the US Air Force I met on Garage Journal" :)

Managed to clean a couple of them up more today, just the exterior so far but they're coming out great so far - I just clay bared them with an old clay bar that I was about to throw away anyway and waxed them...

Finally finished cleaning up all but one of them, they came out pretty good! Just kind of stacked them around the garage for now, looking to sell all but two of them. I'll be keeping one of the NAPA Belden ones under the bench, and one of the bigger NAPA ones to the left of my tool box.

Dude, those are tasty. That much for two hunert is definitely a "you ****". Just like everyone else, I try and keep an eye out on Clist but never any luck. That does remind me though that I do happen to have a NAPA cabinet still buried in the basement back at my parents house.
Anyway,
1. They look great after the clean up.
2. Awesome that your girl friend helped out.
3. If you happen to be at Wright-Patt and you're getting rid of some of them, let me know.
4. Thank you for serving.

I have the same napa tune up cabinet and after you
Remove a shelf or two it will hold 1 row of gallon size
Bottles and two rows of quart size ones. It's handy just inside
The garage door for coolant, washer fluid, oil, wax,
whatever. nice find

Hey Plex, if you still are planning on letting a few of those go I may be interested in making a deal. I'll PM you my location here in Sac and phone number.
