Everyone I know that has one of those “Chinese wonder vises” absolutely loves it....
I'll be the exception to "everyone"
I had one of those Chinese wonder vises way back when....

I over tightened the stupid thing and it blew up in my face :ROFLMAO:
Yes, my fault....
It blew up into several pieces and sent a metal Chineseum bullet into the wall.

It's a darn good thing that bullet didn't hit me in the head :ROFLMAO:

That vise is exactly why I stick to USA tools especially vises

I see all kinds of Silly Stupid-A$$ prices on CL
This one has been on CL for some weeks now

His post is kinda funny
A couple of his pics are upside down....
Wants $1,200 for his Rigid...

But, cutting the seller a bit of slack......this darn thing may be 150lbs?
....couldn't get solid intel on it. So, I don't know for sure

rigid 61.jpg
Cut the poor guy some slack. From the look of the condition of it and the rust he probably could not get it apart to put it back together the right way.
So the description SOLID RIDGID is more than likely correct!

:)

Thanks. I appreciate it ecotec.... (y)
Be careful with your vise.....don't use a cheater bar on it like I did :ROFLMAO:

My two full size vises are made in USA 60,000psi ductile iron. I wouldn’t use a cheater bar on them… but, if I did, I am sure that they would not explode.

My "Asian" vise pictured above got a new lever when I rebuilt it after twenty-odd years of service. The old one was badly bent and abused from years of having the balls of the lever beat on with BFHs. I doubt it'll be exploding anytime soon.

But mine is probably thirty years old--not the same animal as today.

I figured my story would get the lovers of their Asian vises Circling the Wagons....
RzanSn.gif

Doubt it'll explode?
My Reed is NEVER going to explode
Reed4c.jpg
That's a silly comparison.

As silly as comparing yours to this "Asian vise" that it doesn't hold a candle to.
F5-HTV614_Main_Grey.jpg

No hate for your vise - it's a great one, but essentially zero comparison value other than they're both vises.

You don't get it.
Silly??
Right, they are both vises.
Duh.
My Chinese vise exploded.....
I know the Reed won't blow up in my face

Now, the Reed won't hold a candle?
Says who?

Yep, only 78 lbs, but it does have about a hundred years on you--711 date stamp. I figure after a hundred and thirteen years of abuse, it'll hold up to whatever I can dish out.
Not sure what's the point here.....
My Chinese vise exploded
You love your's. :ROFLMAO:
Great

You have a vise that's over 100 years old
Not unusual, many people do.
So do I....

Here's one of mine that's about 100 years old
And it's going to hold up just like yours
So?

There are many, many vise destruction tests on youtube. Anything halfway decent needs a 3' pipe on the handle and typically breaks the screw. Even the Chinese vises. But yeah, USA, USA, USA.

This is degenerating into a 'vise measuring contest' similar to an appendage measuring contest that men engage in. Do girls like men with 'big vises'.
Him : "check out my 110 lb Parker, baby"
Her : "it's so long and HARD, ooohh"

The current wonder vises vary in bulk from 'vevor' at 14 lbs ,to the local tool shop at 58lb .......price about the same with delivery .......Ive only had actual experience of a very old one at my employers ..........However ,many sellers of rusty ones claim they 'must weigh 100lbs." Now maybe this is exageration ,or maybe like Chinese shoes and clothes, shrinkage has set in.

Kinda like some dogs. One owner thought theirs weighed close to 100#. When we showed up with an 80# of the same breed, they were a bit surprised, they found out their big boy only weighed 55#. I can’t lift my 90# any more. He must be getting heavier. Yeah, that’s it!!

This thread seems to have wandered off track. Guys, please come back to the purpose of this discussion - Craigslist idiots and their ridiculous postings. Here's one from Hilo Hawaii years ago for example.

This Facebook Marketplace post by Mark Tarolli from Syracuse NY represents an entirely new level of delusion on the part of the seller:

Details

  • Condition
    New
Happy goldfish cracker manufactured with industrial love of food mistakenly made the way it probably should be with spices arranging a face with rosy cheek and lips.

Goldfish Cracker.jpg

He's asking $7,000,000.

I'm not even mad. If there is someone stupid enough to buy it, then he's made a fortune. In fact, I wish him luck.

There was guy near me offering a similar take it all only deal with scant information on what "all" was. When I contacted him he had no interest in providing any sort of inventory just saying to come look. Fine, if you live across the street. PASS.

The dreamers keep on coming:
https://syracuse.craigslist.org/tls/d/snap-on-mac-tools-toolbox/6560244620.html

There are no photos. Here's what the ad says in case it disappears:

SNAP-ON/MAC TOOLS & TOOLBOX - $15000 (Sandy Creek NY)

condition: excellent
make / manufacturer: MAC/SNAP-ON/MISC
model name / number: MB1500 toolbox
size / dimensions: big

$60,000 worth/value (value in 2006:they're worth more now) of aviation tools in a MAC MB1500 TOOLBOX (6 wheels & stainless steel deck w/rotating gunsmith vise for small work/items). The toolbox can be rolled in a small circle by pushing/pulling on one side/end for use in tight areas(has 6 wheels w/4 rotating & lockable). The tools are mostly Snap-On & Mac with some Craftsman/other brands. SOME CUSTOM TOOLS (magneto timer etc...). Too numerous to mention in this posting. I have a 10-page list of tools that i can read to you if you call me. MANY TOOLS for use in tight/restricted areas. MOST TOOLS ARE SCRIBED WITH A 4-DIGIT IDENTIFICATION NUMBER for security purposes & to identify the owner of the tool in case of a plane/aircraft malfunction/crash.PRICE IS FIRM!!! Cash / Personal Check/Paypal or money order: NO CERTIFIED BANK CHECK: once paid for I will not send any part of the payment to a shipper UNTIL the $$$$ is in my account. I have a single axle trailer that I will sell for $200 if you want to pick up the toolbox instead of having it shipped.EXCELLENT CONDITION!!!
LOL! I came across this listing on Craigslist a few minutes ago and was about to post it to this thread. And here it is, already posted 7 years ago.:ROFLMAO: Can't say I'm surprised he still has it.
