LOL! I came across this listing on Craigslist a few minutes ago and was about to post it to this thread. And here it is, already posted 7 years ago.:ROFLMAO: Can't say I'm surprised he still has it.
Well, he knows what he has--and wants to keep it. The ad was just to satisfy his wife who told him he had too many tools.

Honest, hon, I'm trying to sell some of them--see?

I saw this on facebook marketplace today. All it says under the description is “large rock”. He wants $300. I’m thinking some smaller ones probably fill his cranium...3BD802B2-CBC7-4CB1-957C-EC86FA95E639.jpeg

A couple of decades ago, a wealthy couple built a compound in one of the small towns near here. They spent a ton of money importing granite boulders from Idaho... when there were fields full of granite boulders withing a mile of their project that the owners would have paid them to haul off!

He even cut the actual S/O case to fit that🥴

I make sure to post this every time it pops up to keep some from unknowingly buying that hunk of ****:

It seems as though these dreamers are EVERYWHERE. I just came across another ad on facebook marketplace listing an antique carpenter's bench for sale. He wants $3,500 for it, and the description in the ad appears below the photo. For reference, I bought a similar work bench with two original vises mounted on it (but no base) for $50 several years ago.

Carpenter bench 531712532_1802363283963061_1454901916161091911_n.jpg
Circa 1880-1910 Maple Carpenter's workbench. Unit has a dropped down small tool area running the entire length with angled "pick-up" pieces at each end. Bench dog holes run the length of the work top. The all-wood vice works perfectly and is a marvel of design complete with dovetail construction. Truly a conversation piece. Just finished restoration. Could be used as a kitchen island, wine tasting table, foyer (needs a large room) table, office entry designer piece, lake house feature piece or many other commercial building / restaurant / winery / brew house designer uses as well as just a workbench. Table is 7' long - 29" wide and 34" high. Extremely stable with no loose joints. I will not entertain low-ball offers. I can be contacted at 5-eight-five-two-3-0-five-thousand.

The rage is some kitchen designs is to use a workbench like this as an island. Those folks that can afford that don't care what it costs/what its worth/ or how it takes it out of the hands of a woodworker looking for an affordable bench.

No clue what that's worth, but in all fairness just because you got a great deal on one once, doesn't affect its value.

The seller is in la la land. I've sold these benches before, and he's asking about 5 times what it is actually worth.

I will take every one in that condition you can find for $700. I can promise you I could sell that for $3000+ within 30 days.

Not really that far off. Those machines together might bring that much if they were in good condition. If they are frozen, then it is dreaming. Machine ways get rusted and difficult to bring back, but after one year, they might be OK.

In clean running condition they would be worth 2-3k total.

As they sit they are worth whaever scrap value they have minus transportation costs.

The link just takes me to the FB marketplace page with a listing of tools for sale, not to a specific ad. And nothing that is unusual or interesting. Links often don't last long and a screen shot or description is better.
Add was deleted , go figure. It was basically a couple of HF tool boxes with maybe a $1-2k worth of tools for $30k. It got a lot comments in reference the sellers level of drug usage.
