I really really wish CL would come out with a "Block this seller" button, would solve a lot of issues with the A-holes who think they need to bump the same **** to the top of the listings every day.

I wish I could block people on CL. I have a few ads in the barter section. I have nice stuff to barter -- a new BMX bike, nice compact Craftsman toolbox with a nice assortment of general tools, 2 laptops, a tablet, working mower, etc.. It's all listed in one ad.

Anyway, every few months I get the same response from 2 different CL idiots who always have the same junk to barter -- a speaker enclosure box with no speaker, a GM factory stereo out of like a 1980's Chevy, an old blender, a box of 50 VHS movies, a few heavy pieces of a tree trunk, etc..

Where I am, My preferred methods of payment are cash and hardwood firewood for my stove. Wood is just as good as cash here

And here is an ancient hand crank drill press for only $750!

https://rochester.craigslist.org/atq/d/east-aurora-antique-drill-press/6901773433.html

The ad reads:
I have an antique drill press that I am looking to sell. The drill is full cast iron. There is a #807 on the one wheel. There is no name on the drill, but on the drill chuck, there is the name Ettco Tool Co. The drill has little rust on it. All the gears turn very smoothly. I am asking $750.00... If you have any questions, contact me to at 7onesix-652-onefour60...ask for Joe or Tyler.

Better hurry up if you want to beat the next guy to his door for this deal!

Here's a real winner: https://cnj.craigslist.org/tls/d/union-unfinished-blacksmith-anvil/6883283241.html

Steal a small piece of railroad track, do some hacking on it with a torch, call it an unfinished anvil and ask $125 for it. :spit:

Unfinished blacksmith anvil - $125 (union)

or call the # in reply and ill get back to you ==26 pounds ==has a nice ringing to it---as well makes a good conversational piece ---wholes for mount---pritchell whole--- have shaped a couple of shoes on it as well .....

It's Funny:)

Yeah, the seller probably pulled it out of a heap at the scrap yard.
If it was local, I “might” give him 5 bucks and wait until I found a broken Columbian or Craftsman that had a good handle/spindle.

Right now I have a spindle from a small Reed that I am saving in case a broken vise pops up nearby. But that part might stay on my shelf until I’m six feet under.

I'm no authority on Steampunk, I just took an interest in it maybe 8 years back. The mix of modern and antique gadgetry is strangely appealing when done well.

If you want inspiration for a machinist toolbox then check out this video:

Google "The Tool Cabinet and Workbench of Henry O. Studley" and marvel at the efficiency and beauty. It is not Steampunk, it is a real-deal masterpiece.

You do realize, that is one of, if not the most magnificent tool cases ever built by a person... there’s no steampunk or pussyfooting around the fact that the tools or craftsmanship involved in the creation of that are spectacular and inspiring to anyone that’s ever painted a crescent wrench outline on the wall.

Can only shake my head at this one:

https://phoenix.craigslist.org/nph/tls/6954703210.html

Asking $1500 firm for the whole lot, not piecing it out. Don't bother offering anything lower, if I don't sell them I'm fine with that.

Guy asking probably triple or more what the stuff is worth, completely unorganized mess, advertises that he'll keep if he can't get full price and refuses to part out anything. I offered him $300 for the empty B-W cabinet and he seriously wouldn't budge, not even a counter offer.

I see this all the time, folks listing stuff to make sure it doesn't sell, because they never wanted to part with it in the first place. Saddest part is this guy has it all in a storage facility and he's paying for every month that it doesn't sell. :tard:

I know CrackList is a spelling-optional zone and a grammar-free safe space, but I just can't wrap my head around the sort of addlepated confusion that leads someone to repeatedly add a "w" to the word "hole", step back, admire their perfectly crafted prose, and click "post". :headscrat

Yes, that's a word, but it's a different word.

"Hopelessly buggered" is probably more accurate. It looks like the threads on the depth stop have been covered in thick globs of red paint.
