Motorcycle triple trees are held together with a large tapered threaded rod with M20x1.5 threads. The top triple tree is chromed with the same female threads.
I didn't think I needed to chase the chromed threads and now the male piece appears cross-threaded, despite minimal effort on my part ( I didn't keep turning despite the resistance).
I've cleaned up the female side with a tap. The die comes today and I'll chase the male threads. If that doesn't work, do you guys have any other suggestions?
A new set is $900 so obviously that's the least favorable option.
Thank you
Dave
