I've never seen an old folding rule used for advertising purposes before today. I spotted a Chapin-Stephens Co. #61 (guess based on the style of numbers) used as advertisement for an E. A. Thibaut Co. Varnish Makers Long Island City. Borough of Queens N.Y.

Just curious as to if anybody else has seen one used for advertising purposes? Really curious as to if anybody knows of any history behind the company being advertised. I tried searching the company but only found a post on eBay for a sales receipt.

Interesting thing is … they have packed in so many letters that it’s hard to read.

Very. I barely noticed the dots after E and A, and only after a search corrected me. I was really confused as to what an Eathibaut was for a name.
