Both shared some bodywork, mostly just the roof.

I've never seen one of these, but I met a Land Rover R + D chap who had driven one.. He said: "People laughed, but actually they perform incredibly well off road".
The standard fwd 2cv perform well off road.
Give it 4wd and double the power because two engines.

They are a rare beast though the Sahara.

And finally, from the same 1991 publication, an early, pre-production design sketch of the Mini, drawn by it's designer, Alec Issigonis :-

Scan_20240111 (8).png

It seems he originally considered having a tubular frame in the front to carry the engine and suspension mountings. His handwriting was atrocious, so I'll try to decipher it :-
Tube (provides torsional stiffness to front end structure)
Petrol Tank (stressed)
Double thickness (presumably of body panels) around tube.
Engine mounting on tube.
Tube crossmember at front on subframe.
Front suspension fittings on tube.
(Suspension) Units outside (of tubular frame)

In the 70s I found a book in the school library that was all cutaway drawings of everything from a chainsaw to a semi to the lunar lander. 8 year old me devoured that book... I renewed it and re-read it over and over - it answered so many questions I had.

in the very early 90s, most of the textbooks in trade school were still full of cutaway handmade drawings which just made sense to me. Now I see computer generated diagrams but they just don't give me the same perspective and inner vision of something. Probably just my age - I can't stand trying to follow a schematic on a computer either.

Anyway - in a similar vein, Cummins headquarters in Columbus has this:

At first glance I thought CM's pic was maybe a Damian Ortega sculpture.
