Cutting down a Snap On Allen Socket

I cannot believe this thread is 6 pages long when a $25 solution, and free instructions on how to cut the socket he already bought was posted on page 1..

And for the record, I used my 4.5" "grinder" with the thin cutting disc to cut the bit, while held in the vise. I stopped several times to allow the bit to cool off; the vise helped with that effort. I finished it off with double cut ******* file.

I'm also confused why the op is so reluctant to spend $25 on a tool used so infrequently, when he already felt the need to buy a snap on version for the same purpose that still needed to be modified.. :headscrat

Two reasons...
1) I got the Snap-On socket for 37% of the price of the Hazet tool
2) I thought the Snap-On socket might fit as-is. In fact, it could if I took more stuff apart, but I didn't want to do that.
