Not that big of a project, progress is slow because concrete pumps are always busy and you need to schedule them 5 days before the pour and when steel guys and carpenters get behind we have to reschedule them adding a lot of time without any work done.
Entire house was projected for 9 months.. with the last progress and the rain coming I'm looking at 12 or so. In reality this kind of house can be done easily in 4 months if you spend a bit more on additives and more work force but it was out of my budget.
Bit of progress from yesterday:
Base for the water tank poured
5/8" steel footings for the center wall
Smaller 3.3x3.3ft footings
Leveling walls ( the rear part of the garage will be 12" above car park level.
A shot from outside just because the columns look huge. No neighbor has actually asked what the hell we are building but I have seen a lot of head scratching

Update:
Yes I know this kind of framing was used by dinousaurs!
Low tech jungle gym is going up!
Another footing already poured ( this one will hold part of the architectural wall )
Framed center wall
Circular wall up ( machine room )
Back walls
Stone: decided this was the best approach to hold the extra dirt level and to protect neighbor walls.
As soon as the garage is finished this car will be my never ending project among others

I wish it was just something like that.. He poured like 11 pounds of salt INSIDE the framing for the center wall...
I talked about this to the admin and he summoned us to a meeting today.

Rain is switched on and seems like there is no plan to switch it off any time soon.
Some days are just unworkable, other days they man up and work under it.
I took the first 3 pictured on Monday past week and the rest are from today. In normal weather this should have been done by the weekend but now I guess it will take another week to finish!

Still missing some steel bars between beams and all the cement blocks. I don't think this will be done this year as it was supposed to be.

I freakin love this build. The forming systems are definitely different from what you'd see up here but they obviously work. The rebar work looks first class. Awesome!

I know!, it looks prehistoric compared to yours but I have never heard of/seen ISF before, so BOOM! 3rd world construction process
I guess this will be the last pics in a long time since stuff won't involve the garage till the house is finished.

I loved spending time in Guadalajara and really like Mexican construction. I think its great how much cement, stone, brick and tile is used and how creatively cement is applied. I've seen some cool beach homes with nice polished cement floors and counters. I love the durability and resistance to mold, rot and termites. I don't understand why more folks in the US don't use similar construction techniques.
Can't wait to see the interior photos and finished product!

without knowing your style or hobbies, it's hard to tell you how to organize it. If it were my garage, I would say park one car straight but close to the middle, one car on and angle around the curved wall. In the right upper corner against the back wall would be a nice work bench since directly behind it would be a hydraulic lift. Air tools would be supplied through an air hose reel mounted on that center post and another by the tool chest which would be fed by an air compressor back in the utility room (curved room)The car parked straight would be back far enough that there could be a nice sitting area adjacent to the bar with a tv mounted to the wall and couches around it. Hang bikes and such on the ceiling. Lots of lighting, for work, that can be changed to be 'pub lighting' for parties, hanging out/drinking with friends, and watching movies. Lots of PUB signs and street signs.
Just some ideas.

Yeah, impressive! I'd ask what you do for a living (maybe you mentioned it but I'm not much for reading when there are so many pictures! ) but I'm afraid to!

The salt thing:
I did some research back that day and found that in santeria that means bad wishing, bad business luck, bad love luck and all that I wish you die slowly ****. Bleh, as I said earlier, crazy people.
I won't make it a long story but we met that day with a couple of guys from the residential place ( don't know the proper term in english ) well, he called me a *********, " I was building my house to see his kids " and a lot more nonsense stuff coming out of his shooting **** mouth. Decided to play it cool and conserved the good neighbor attitude to prove my point, yet I think I made the table thinner from holding it so hard to keep calm.
salt + steel = no good, guys that live in wintery places will know how it rots the cars. Contractor had the forming removed and cleaned it with lots and lots of water and sprayed a sealer on the column.
I work at a local oil company.

Glad to see this and to hear all you guys are into this kind of structure........i'm getting real tired of the vinyl siding and crown molding bunch having too much influence on current architectural styles.

LCG - wow, what a project. I love the modern architecture. I noticed you seem to be surrounded with contemporary design homes. Is there an HOA or board review in place that only allows modern design to keep a lot owner from building a log cabin style home next door? Your renderings look very realistic.
Also - I cant get past the salt thing. So you have a disgruntled neighbor that is coming on to your property and deliberately attempting to sabotage your construction? Isn't such behavior actionable legally?

By the way...great price. If I read/converted right, you are building for roughly $40/sf. That is a crazy good price compared to here. I live in Oklahoma which has a low cost of building per SF and new construction is in the $90-100/sf range depending how you finish it out. I anticipate something like you are building would be $100+/sf given the concrete, rebar and extensive excavation you are doing.

I wish more was built with concrete... my dad sells ICF blocks. We hope to build our garage in a few years, and i hope to build it to the rafters with block...

Update:
Picked up some "structural" attach points that are going to be attached to beams.
made them at work for 10% of contractor price, also some galvanized "PTR" for pass through beams.
Also made at work for around 50% of contractor price, some "chicks", these will help hang stuff from the ceilings instead of using nails or screws.
Another pic of the total, now showing some of the tubes for rainwater.
The lids for the drains, a circle of pure cement shaped with a bunch of blocks, artsy
