I have a "I won't let this go of my mind till I do something about it" Wife.
I have a "Can't go out of a store without buying half of it" Mother.

They went together to see wallpapers.

We have a lot of wallpaper.

And I can confirm it really is a LOT of wallpaper.

The store literally closed half an hour early so they could focus on them and still left an hour and a half later arriving at home with 2 boxes of samples.

They still couldn't get enough and went for more the next 2 days, LCG sold his camera so he could pay them (that's why there are no photos), and there's no more money for furniture or Sophie's preschool, but hey, we have wallpaper.

(LCG's sister here btw)

Now it's getting good. We have the sister to tell us what's really going on with the build.

Welcome to GJ Sis!

Haha don't encourage her. I know what she is doing.

It is not going to work ZIZZZZZZZZZZZ... make your own thread.

And give me back my camera instead of asking for it in front of our parents so they think you still go to school.

I thought I would check in on this thread in hopes you had moved in. I must say I thoroughly enjoyed reading it (and your two car threads), but I would be all whacked out if this was me. Or if I was one of your neighbors ;)

Of course, I say this but my wife and I lived in the pool house of our place for the first 23 months as the house was a wreck when we bought it.

I truly appreciate it, thank you

Yeah the neighbors must be thrilled too, Whenever I see the front guys ( couple of young brothers ) they salute me like.. yeah there is the guy that is going to move over every month.

Haha my thread is accurate to the point, if I wanted to hide something I would not post the ugly stuff, that is why you have never seen a picture of me.

LOL! Gotcha love it. Maybe we'll get updates like we use to get. :dunno:

Sis, you're more than welcome to take up his slack.

Its not slack, its just pretty much slow, its like watching paint dry, literally.

I will have something worth of update someday...

Thank you Mr Restore, I too enjoy your meticulous approach at tiny squeaks that would make anyone with ears crazy.

I can make excuses for not bringing content, already made some of those in another place so I feel explained now. ( The perks of posting on many places ).

That covers the life part of the excuse.

What is going on with the house?

A lot and nothing really.

A lot because there is stuff going on, nothing because it has took so long that posting updates on it would be like a timelapse of paint drying. So cliche yet so on point.

2 Things are going on at the moment.

1.-

You may or not remember that at first all inside house metal was being painted (brush) matte gray.

I will echo me from posts above but I made a deal with a guy to "PIANO BLACK" all metal.

Of course I got a quote and a time schedule.

None of those were right, the time schedule being the worst part of the two.

Since April a guy has been sanding, painting, sanding, bonding, and all things involved in getting a mirror like finish.

Up to this day there is still a lot of work to do, but final paint should be happening withing the next few years.

D13.0705s.jpg

2.-

Electricity has been slow, not because of their fault but because I kept insisting that everyone should wait till paint was done.

After months of waiting I finally gave up and told them to continue working.

D13.0706s.jpg

D13.0707s.jpg

It is a mess, I know. One of those things that I just will have to live with, I'm just happy those DIN boxes have some cute plexi covers that hide all the cabling just like a good makeup.

Onto things that are happening on a more recent timeline. Last week the carpenters brought the last wood wall of the house, this is the entrance to the main bathroom, door should be disguised as part of the wall... SHOULD.

D13.0708s.jpg

Finally after all the garage door drama, here is the final mechanism.

D13.0709s.jpg

Hey, its not stupid if it works. Flawlessly.

And just to finish.

Some teasers of the non sense that is about to drop.

You, ole mate, are a lunatic..... And I love it that people like you can have the perseverance, patience, and sense of humour to attack a house like that in the way you do. And then post about it on here.

Keep it up. You're doing wonders for my very sore funny bone!!!!! :eyecrazy: :rocker:

Thanks for the update. I'm digging the newspaper border. Very stylish.

I'm glad to hear the garage door mechanism is working flawlessly. A nice bright pink paint job on those pieces should make it blend in nicely.

Upwards and onwards.

Oh the newspaper border of course... It was a surprise but I guess you saw it.

I had a rough time because I really wanted a newspaper wallpaper and the edges were like the perfect spot to put some.

Yet with all the **** going on in the world, newspapers were full of horrible news and we did not want to grow up on a negative house.

So we had no choice but to remove it.

sad sad sad

*cries away

Sorry for the lack of update but I won the lottery and was busy tearing down the house with a rubber mallet. I wish...

I do have a John Wick hair style going on tho...

Excuses go on:

Got delivery of a lvl 1 hooman and it has been eating all my attention.

I will write a proper update on the next days, but no.. no real progress has been made.

Hey LCG!

Congratulations!! The most amazing update you could post. Not your first I think, earlier photos with Mom, but a wonderful, treasured addition.

All the best for mom, family, and you too!

LCG, I admire all the effort you have put into the house to get it perfect. Then your wife, with just a little help from you delivers a perfect lvl 1 hooman. Have you considered turning the whole house project over to her?

Congratulations on the arrival of your son. We had a girl, then a boy and then we quit. You will soon learn just how true the Mars and Venus thing is!

Congrats on the new hooman, if you put the house off long enough you would then have "free" child labor to finish it to your liking.

Nice choice on the garage door! The full view glass garage doors are some of my favorite.

Thanks, it was quite a mistake but well worth it I guess.

Second one and last, thanks for the best wishes and likewise on the good karma.

good for you, bad for the house. Try to enjoy it :).

Bad for the house doesn't even describe the amount of drama that thing has been suffering on its loneliness :lol_hitti

Now the house ain't big enough... Tear it down and do it over.
Congratulations!

Believe or not, this was somewhat accounted for in the house plans, so I would tear it down just to enjoy doing it, no need to do it for family reasons.

Congratulations.

Thanks brother!

I know at your age no one would say this to you but..

I actually did miss you.

I knew someone would pull that on me, at least you are an expert on the subject

LCG,
Growing up with 5 brothers we were well aware of how much free child labor our parents could extract from us, and some how they still do...

That last example is priceless. As they say, you're never to young to start learning. (Or is that too old:dunno:)

I think it applies both ways, just don't try to surf on your 90th birthday because it was your long dream.

Congratulations!
All the best for you and your family!

Thank you very much!

----------------------

Yesterday I dusted the camera bag, charged the batteries, cleaned the lens, watched F1, ate breakfast, played on the computer, ate lunch, took a shower, put some clothes on, combed my hair, applied some perfume, helped my wife prepare the unbelievable amount of things you carry with newborns, loaded the familybus with family and took off to the house to write an update.

We arrived, I opened wife's door, unbelted my daughter, picked up the camera, opened the lock on the temp fence, put the alarm on the bus and opened house main door.

I enter, roamed around, turned on the camera, took a picture, had a moment of life visualization, turned the camera off, asked my wife if she was ready to go, carried my daughter, belted her, opened wife's door, closed it, went back to the house, closed main door, went out, locked temp fence and we left.

------

I usually write in a way that creates drama just to be entertaining yet pictures show reality and you can decide for yourself what of what I'm telling you is drama, sarcasm and or reality.

And I have shown and shared the good, the bad and the ugly.

This time I won't, the house is in such sorry state that I wasn't even willing to share the amount of procrastination I have done on that thing. Its not that I wont share it with you, but its just embarrassing how I left that thing to rot and I feel actually ashamed about it.

So, no update until I get my **** together once again for the 5th time.

I completely understand and I feel like such an amateur but...

It has taken me 33 years (with a sometimes cloudy vision) to turn this...

Damn Bob you seem to be running full speed backwards instead of the usual procedure of 2 steps front, 3 steps back.

Congrats on the new addition.
How's big sis doing with the new little bro?
House is AWESOME. Please don't stop now. Be like when Dallas ended and all the drama that we need on a daily basis.
With all your creative detail, can't wait for you to get to the GARAGE!

Bob, You've made me, and probably almost everybody else here feel a lot better about all those projects that are taking 264 times longer than expected.

Damn Bob you seem to be running full speed backwards instead of the usual procedure of 2 steps front, 3 steps back.

 :lol_hitti  :lol_hitti

Haha, that's funny!

Oh man does that ever sum up life with kids!

Congrats on creating a new level 1 hooman.

I stopped caring what other people thought of me when I realised I could make my own people.
