As always, amazing craftsmanship! You've really got a keen eye for those restoration project details. Love the metal roof, I'm going to be looking info replacing our roof in the next couple years. A steel roof with its longevity has been something I've considered. I like how they even offer a 3 dimensional design now. Thank you for sharing!

Im a fellow suffering Bears fan... Really enjoying your garage and all the time and effort youve put into finding the unique little display items and displaying them perfectly. Love the pipe shelf brackets.

I really cant get over how the Kendall sign looks like a "hello, my name is" name tag sticker...

Thirdyfivepickup

Thanks for checking out DaBarn and the complements. Its is really getting frustrating watching the Bears games! Its just time for them to get rid of Cutler and start rebuilding :eyecrazy:

The Kendall sign was made that way so you could add the name of your company into the white section, I had thought of having the local sign guy print me something out in vinyl letters and put it on the sign, maybe DaBarn

Well I clicked on the link in your signature a few hours ago and finally made it to the end. You have more antiques and collectibles in DaBarn than most of us could dream about having !! I am also wondering what you will pull out of your basement next and show us.

I have gotten a kick out of your calling your shop/man cave a "barn". In my world a barn is something different all-together :D

jblnut

Thanks for the visit to my "little party garage" I like following along on the adventures out on your farm, I grew up on a small farm (nothing compared to your operation) And I always think I would of enjoyed that life style but it never came to be  I guess I might have to change the name of DaBarn to DaPolebuilding

Just went through this thread, really cool stuff! I have a 30 x 40 shop too but after 11 years I can "Bearly" LOL walk through there.

bluebolt

Thanks for taking the time to check out DaBarn! I do believe I have a touch of OCD so I try to keep my barn cleaned out and it also seconds as the man cave, so I do host some football watching/beer drinking parties in it! but the basement in my house is a different story (that's where I hide all my excess ****) :lol_hitti

Its a honor having you checking out my barn!!! I think everyone here on The Garage Journal is amazed at your repair skills, I really enjoy following along on your adventures in your garage and your photos are awesome

I see why they call you the professor :)

Nice having you back for a visit, and thanks for the complements! I really like how my new metal roof came out, its a good feeling getting it taken care of and not having to worry about loose shingles or leaks. I got a good price on it and the Amish crew done it completely in one day

Scored this great piece today :) A 1930's air compressor made by The Electric Spray Company in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. I will have to build a nice shelf for it to display in DaBarn

We finally got some Florida snow which you might refer to as rain. :lol_hitti I'm with 1/2, to cold.

That is a cool compressor. Does it work. That would be cool to use with an air brush.

Heading into our winter here! Highs only to be in the twenty's this week! I really like the season changes around here and I don't really mind the cold like some people. I wasn't even looking for that air compressor, but I saw it in a guys garage that I was at for something unrelated and asked him if it was for sale? twenty minutes later I was walking out the door with it :D I always say the best time to buy something like that is when you see it

The air compressor works great! I believe it was manufactured in the thirty's, The motor is not original, but the rest of it is. I want to pick up a small cloth braided airline for it and maybe restore it in the near future

Nice find on that compressor!

What temp due you have da Barn at for when your out there working on things?

I love the winter as well.

gives me time to work on inside projects when the temp is to cold out side but winter ATV riding is more fun in short burst of time! Helps with Heated grips and thumb warmer!

I like the air compressor. That company turned into Thomas Indstries. I applied for a IT job there a long time ago. Glad I did not get the job as they moved to get cheap labor. I drive past there old plant quite a bit.

Thanks for stopping in! I usually leave the heat off in the barn until I go out there to work, then I keep the thermostat around 60 degrees...With a 125,000 BTU Modine furnace and a good insulation job it doesn't take long at all to heat up  The only down side is that the Modine's blower is a little loud. I have a Honda 400ex and it sits just about all winter! being only a 2 wheel drive it doesn't do well in the snow, but it is fun on the ice :)

Thanks for the visit! I think the compressor is a great piece from the past, I want to pick up a new power cord and air hose for it then maybe do a restore on it when time allows, I got lucky on finding this piece and the guy was willing to sell

Bears fan,

Get a 2nd set of rear tires and put chains on them and you'll get around okay!

Though if a cross bar lets loose you'll have fender damage.
I love snow riding on the atv cept for the getting cold part.

Not really Garage related, spent the morning making Christmas cookies with Mrs Bear, Raspberry finger cookies and Mexican Wedding cookies. Both cookies turned out awesome

Got some Garage time in today! It was 24 degrees outside, but inside the barn it was 52 degrees with no heat on, I worked on putting together a vintage Gates fan belt display, I had picked up all the pieces separately and it finally all came together.

I bought myself a new Christmas present this week xmas I had my old single stage, 6.5 hp, 60 gallon Coleman air compressor for 19 years now and it has been a good one and it still works great! The problem is I have been trying to do more sandblasting lately and my little single stage compressor will not keep up and if I keep using it I'm afraid I would just fry it? So I went and invested in a new Quincy 5 hp, 2 stage, 60 gallon air compressor. I wanted to go with the 80 gallon tank but it was almost $500.00 more then the 60 gallon tank, but this should be fine for my little hobby shop :) I need to pick up all the new plumbing items for it before I can hook it up, not sure exactly how I want to do it yet?

Bay Minette AL! That's just 3 1/2 hrs down the road. My similar Husky is going on 17 yrs and I wonder how it will do when I actually get busy. Let's know how the performance is between the two compressors.

The picture of the snow on the eave is cool but unless I have skis on, no cold weather for me. :)

My old compressor has always worked fine except when I try sandblasting items, I didn't want to burn it up, so I decided to buy one designed to keep up! I will try selling my old one on Craigslist once I get the new one hooked up, I probably won't get to it till after the holidays, I will keep you posted on how it works out.

We have been dealing with a polar vortex here Indiana :eyecrazy: Its been really cold, wish I had a couple of weeks in Florida :D

That's a really great picture of the snow, but I'd hate to be going in the man door when that stuff decides to fall off.

53PontiacSD

Thanks for stopping by! I need to go out and knock all that snow off the gutters before they get damaged...

So with the cold do your trucks have twin crank batteries or one pretty decent CCA rated one? And assuming you let them warm up for a bit from a cold start ?

Great updates as always, like the new Quincy.

DaBarn: your shop continues to get better everytime i spend a few minutes stopping in to see what's new. since you have a new compressor i thought you might want to see Brent's method of setting his up even though there are tons of compressor threads on here his seems pretty simple to set up.

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=344305

Merry Christmas and here's to an even better 2017 than 2016 was.

Darn. I thought it was cold this morning at 31, but I live in Phoenix. I did have to scrape frost off the windshield, though.

Glad I moved south 31 years ago!

rixtrix1

Thanks for checking out my thread, I do sometimes wish I lived further south in the winter, but all my family is within a short driving distance from me and I do like the seasonal changes here, I don't like all the salt and sand that is laid down on the roads around here it makes for one hell of a mess

Really enjoyed reading and following along so I thought I'd post here as a lazy way of subscribing to it.

My truck is a 2012 Chevy Silverado Z71. It does come stock with a place to install a second battery but I don't have one installed. It is now four years old and still has the original battery and it starts fine, even when the temps are below zero, The truck did come stock with a remote start which is just awesome!!! because with the toolbox and ladder racks It will not fit in my garage, I just hit the remote start and let her warm up for ten minutes

This was taken in 2012 when the truck was new.

This is a recent photo of the truck now, it has the company's logo on it, The Silverado has been one awesome vehicle to have

Thank you for sharing the pictures of snow. Let's me enjoy a white Christmas without the -18 degrees.

May your Christmas be peaceful and filled with love and the New Year be a time of rebirth.
