Some how, I had missed your thread until today. Just read thru the entire thread and really enjoyed it. Your barn is better insulated than my house! I love your taste in garage decorations. I like oil cans, gas pumps, vending machines, etc. So far, the only vending machine I have added to my shop is a 25 cent condom machine that originally came from a tourist attraction on old Route 66 called the Buffalo Ranch (now defunct). Didn't realize you could derust so effectively with apple cider vinegar. I may have to try that on a future project. I do wish you would post a panoramic view of your shop interior - I am dying to know where you hung the urinal!

Jeff

Awesome you could stop by and thanks for the complements...I really enjoy collecting the vintage Petroliana, I think I inherited that gene from my dad. My barn is well insulated, I didn't want to scrimp on it! It gets cold in northern Indiana and I wanted to be able to go out there and hang out in the winter...The apple cider vinegar trick works really well, I use it on the tops and bottoms of old oil cans all the time! I will see if I can get some new photo's up? The urinal is still sitting in my basement, I was asked what was I going to do with that when I drug it home? Everyone that comes over always goes out behind the barn to take a leak, so I tell them I want to just mount it on a 4 x 4 post out behind the barn with absolutely no plumbing on it, so we would have a real place to take a leak

Nothing to exciting! But my dad dropped off a Amalie one pound grease can for me, it appeared to be in rough shape, but after rubbing the **** out of it with some cleaner wax for a half hour, it turned out to be in decent shape. My wife told me that I was going to rub the lettering right off of it. Its cool that my dad collects antique telephone and related items, because he goes to flea markets, auctions and antique stores and when he finds something that he thinks I would like he picks it up for me :)

I was at an auction this past weekend and saw all sorts of stuff that would have looked great in Da Barn. I rarely gave antiques a second glance before but now I'm beginning to appreciate them more

My dad has been a collector all his life! That's where I got the disease from! It is a hobby for me now and it gives me something to keep my mind occupied on other then the daily BS that you deal with in everyday life :D

Thanks for the visit! It is cool that dad drops off a cool piece to me once in a while. My dad did get me another cool piece of automobile history, a light bulb removal kit, I will get some photos posted soon

Awesome! Road trip. Get your kicks on Route 66. Just have to get Don in gear. ;)

I already told Don that "The Big Party Garage" has made it onto my bucket list

My dad dropped this Lamp Removal Kit off to me. It was used to remove automotive bulbs from their sockets, it has three different size rubber hoses inside for different size bulbs, I don't think this piece is something that ever caught on? I believe it was just a promotional give away piece? Just another interesting automotive item to add to the collection...

Hey Bears Fan, I found some original new Gates belts that came out of an old auto parts store. No cardboard sleeves though. Can probably get them for free if you want them.

Here's the belts, got them for $1 each, 7 total. Trying to figure out how to get them in a medium flat rate box LOL.

Hey BF, Great build, I've just found your thread and read from start to finish over the last 2 days.
I'm on board with the panoramic pics request, it would be cool to see the whole layout.
I'm just starting with a minor refurb in my garage, but I can tell you that the pipe shelf bracket idea and gauge bracket idea has been noted and will be "stolen" for use in my garage.
Hope you are having a great summer, before we know it DaBears will be on and NO CUTLER!! (At least on the field, Gonna have to listen to him. ****. I know, watch the game muted and listen to the radio!) Now we may get to watch football in January again!

Bears Fan, what happened to one of my favorite threads? :dunno:

PugetDude

Sorry for slacking on my posts, no real excuses here! Just got lazy...I have been dealing with a back issue and I always seem to busy with work and life.

I have been keeping up on my favorite threads here on The Garage Journal though

Awesome shop BF! Really enjoyed finding and reading this thread.

PSD

Thanks for checking in and the compliments, I will try to get some new updates posted soon, I do have a few cool thinks to post...

Thanks for taking the time to check out DaBarn! I will make an effort to get some new pics posted...I'm glad you like the pipe bracket shelves, I take a liking to anything that looks vintage industrial...

As for the Chicago Bears go, I'm really not going to get my hopes up just yet, But it will be really nice to watch a game without Jay Cutler around!!! Eight years of that **** was enough :eyecrazy:

Bears Fan,
Your garage is really cool!
I just caught myself up on your thread.
Any updates?

jon04

Thanks for the visit and the nice comments, I have been a real slacker lately on updates...I will need to work on that...I like the new blue Lista cabinets in your garage, you deserve a big "You ****" on the price

I took a week off work to just hang around the house and do whatever I want, no vacation or work schedule for an entire week! just yard and barn time

I started out with mowing the yard, spraying the driveway with some Roundup and I even trimmed a couple of Hardy Geraniums down that were growing like crazy...

I own 2 1/2 acres of land out back. Not much! but it attaches to a neighbors 38 acre field down over the hill, so he just takes care of it for me...It saves a **** ton of mowing...For the past fifteen years he has keep it in hay till this year, he plowed it under and planted beans, they really took off nice. so I thought I would share a couple of recent pics of my beans...

I had picked up a old bench a while ago from out in front of someones house that had a pile of stuff with a "FREE" sign on it...I tore it apart and scraped everything but the legs and kept them in storage till recently...My son Cody had mentioned he wanted a reloading table for his reloading equipment to mount on, So I pulled out the legs and made him a little reloading table for his birthday on August 1st...

Nice job! That bench alone should give him 1/2" MOA at 100 .

Did you laminate the top or buy a ready-made section?

No, that's not laminate...It is a piece of solid brown maple that i picked up from a local lumber yards panel shop. I rubbed in three coats of dark walnut stain and then added three coats of poly. Now I just got to get it out of "Dabarn" and into "The Bunker" (Cody's man cave)...

I meant laminate, as in gluing individual pieces of wood together; would never accuse you of using Formica on a workbench!

Ivers

Thanks for checking in and the complement...I was happy on how the reloading table turned out and I didn't break the bank doing it

Glad to see your up and about, hope your feeling better  I picked up the panel already glued, I ripped four inches off it then glued and screwed it on for the back splash...

I would love to do a trade with you, It would be a honor to have a piece from The Big Party Garage in DaBarn :)

Thanks for checking in and the complement on the reloading bench. I cleaned up the Levi sign and posted it on craigslist, I had a man stop by and buy it, he said he has a grandson named Levi :D

I got my old Coleman air compressor swapped out with the new Quincy, The old one severed me well for nineteen years, its going into The Bunker along with the new reloading bench.

I picked up a 1/2" master Rapidair kit and installed three manifolds along the east wall, one by the Quincy, one at my welding bench and the third one by the service door...

I'm really happy with the Quincy, Now I can sandblast something without stopping and waiting for the air to build back up...Its actually quieter then the old one too

I was on my way to work a few days back and spotted a couple of Red Foxes playing in a neighbors yard, they stood still long enough for me to get a couple of poor cell phone pics

Nice rack, Bearsfan! (that sounds kinda weird, huh?)

You would be the easiest GJ Secret Santa to buy for this year...
