while i love the look of your shop's walls i don't have the space for those sort of things and need the walls for racks to hold materials and cabinets, but i'm starting to see the benefit of maybe having one wall for just stuff to display.

I really don't want to post any picks of the shop where I picked up my latest finds, I may get to go back? so I don't want to give it away or upset the guy as they are some really good folks. They actually sent my wife and I a thank you card and a gift card for supper for helping them out on a little roof project...People like that are getting harder to find these days...

The parts washer is a cool piece and I still haven't decided what to do with it yet? I don't run across items like that very often so the right time to buy them is when you see them Sometimes you just have to wing it and hope for the best

Thanks for the compliments...I do like the parts cleaner! It is in good shape too...I have never had one particular gas or oil brand that I collect or I'm loyal to, but I have always seemed to take a liking to the orange of the Gulf brand

I have had this idea for a long time to build a little hardware store for DaBarn, I always see a lot of things being done with these Harbor Freight small parts storage cases, well just before Christmas I saw that these cases went on sale for only $5.99 each for the 20 bin case that is 13" x 16 1/2" x 2 1/4" deep. I ordered 12 of them I wanted to make sure I had enough room to organize all my hardware into one place...

At the last minute I added two of the deeper bin cases to fit some of the larger hardware I have, these cases are 13" x 16 1/2" x 4 1/2" deep. They were on sale for $10.99 each, so now I have a total of fourteen cases, this should be suffice for all my hardware These are nice cases for the price and the little bins are removable...

I had some 1/2 sanded plywood on hand, left overs from building my Goodyear sign, I thought about using 3/4" plywood to build the cabinet with but I wanted to save some money...I ripped all the pieces on the table saw and then pre drilled all the holes...

I ripped 26 pieces of plywood down and added a chamfer on the front to act as slides for the cases.

I was sanding the sides of the cabinet before I assembled them and my daughter snapped this picture of me outside of the barn in sub zero weather sanding on the sides, she said the picture was Garage Journal worthy and I had to post it

Due to it being so cold here! I decided to take all the parts in my basement to glue and screw them so they would be at room temperature.

Here is the cabinet all glued and screwed together, I thought about using brad nails to hold it together, but i wanted the extra strength of the screws

Here is the first test fit of all fourteen cases in the cabinet...Perfect fit!

Just another shot of the cabinet all glued up and the cases installed...

After getting the cabinet done I got the idea of adding some shelves to the side of the cabinet to hold my collection of spray cans, I got all four shelves cut, glued and screwed together...

I cut some 1/2" flat stock I had left over from making some shelves, I drilled and screwed them to the front with some brass screws...

Here is a finished shelf ready to add to the side of the hardware cabinet...

A little test fit

I glued and screwed the four spray can shelves on the side of the cabinet...

I picked up four soft rubber swivel casters for the cabinet today at the local farm store, I want to make a angle iron frame for the cabinet to sit in and the casters to mount to...but I have no 1/2" or 3/4" angle on hand. I will have to pick some up next week...I want the cabinet to be mobile.

One last shot of the cabinet, I need to give it a final sanding then prime and paint it, I have yet decided what color to use? But I'm partial to blue

With the paint cans on the left side I still have the right side of the cabinet empty...I'm up for suggestions on what I could add to it?

The cabinet looks awesome. You may want to order a spare parts bin, in case someone finds a way to break one. I have had friends in my garage break hinges off little storage boxes, and container got crushed as someone was letting the lift down. Of course, when you have a back up, you will never need it. $5.99 is cheap insurance....

It was crazy cold last week - brave soul sanding in that.

Wow! It has been a while since I have heard from you or had a chance to visited your thread! "not enough hours in the day". You are the first one to give me any suggestions for the other side of my hardware cabinet! Its funny you mentioned drill bits because I have no good place where all my drill bits are organized? I have been trying to come up with the idea of a small cabinet on the side with a door to keep all of my bits in, but I still need to get the roller base finished first

I did take some time to start the frame for the casters for my hardware cabinet, I picked up some 3/4" x 3/4" x 1/8" angle iron and welded up a frame for the cabinet to rest on...When I do a project like this I always miter the corners, but I decided to go with a notched version to see how it would work out! I do like how the corners turned out, but it did take me a little bit of hand sawing with a hacksaw...

The corners turned out real nice and square thanks to my 90 degree corner clamp, I love this toy... uuhh I mean tool

I got the frame all welded up...I extended the width of the frame for more stability since the cabinet is 4' tall and will be pretty heavy once loaded up...

Here is the bottom of the frame, I ground it smooth so I could mount the caster to it, but with the angle iron only being a 1/8" thick I decided to put some thicker plate steel on the bottom so I would have more steel to tap...

I cut some 3" wide flat stock that is a 1/4" thick into 3"x 3" pieces, I will use a 1/4-28 fine thread tap for the caster bolts, that should give me 6 or 7 threads for each bolt, then I will weld the plates on the bottom of the frame, this will allow me to change out the casters if one ever goes bad...
