When you display your chemicals, do you empty them or are they full???
I have a lot of different stuff but do I drill a hole in bottom or top???

BF: Welcome back. i'm not sure i could do that sort of work now cause my fear of heights seem to be getting worse. in my youth it wouldn't have bothered me much because i think I thought I was immortal.

speaking of hard jobs do they make you repair those when the ladders and equipment have snow and ice on them?

your garage looks more and more like a museum every day and keep up the great work.

I kind of enjoy climbing, some! We do have a certified and insured crew that climbs for us, but they are not always available! So I can fill in on some of the work...We have a dedicated company that tries to keep all of our customers connect to the world wide web, even if it means climbing in freezing temperatures and snowy conditions, my climbing harness keeps me attached to the towers at all times

Thanks for checking in! I always drain all my cans! Either by the cap or a very small hole in the bottom, my dad always said its worth more if the can is still full, but I can't imagine the mess and damage it would cause in the barn if one was to spring a leak...In my opinion I would drain them.

I picked up a new toy..um I mean tool for the Barn, I really like the vintage petroleum signage, but the price is getting insane on these items, some fetching as much as $1000.00 or more. So I want to start making my own signs and this new Baileigh shear is a good start, it will cut up to 14 gauge steel and allow me to do curves and other shapes that a straight metal shear would not. I want to make a stand for just the shear itself and not have to mount it to the bench, I found some ideas for stands that I like from Yaidunno from the Fox Valley Fab Shop here on The Garage Journal.

BF: the more I see that Toy (tool) i think i need to get one along with a bench arbor press. I like those stands and since you don't seem to have a lack of floor space that should work fine. if you might want to try a trailer hitch mounting idea there are several and other ideas on this thread if you have time to take a peek.

I started this thread cause I didn't want to have all my keepers just sitting on a shelf and wanted to find a way to use more of them in my small shop. as soon as my welding skills are better and my shop is ORGANIZED i'll show you which ones I chose.

I did get some QST in! I had picked up a crosswalk light sometime back and I never got around to doing anything with it. I finally ordered a traffic light controller and sequencer board and got it rewired and working, spent sometime cleaning it up and got it hung in the barn

Added a few collectables to DaBarn this week that I picked up! I also took a extra day off work so I could have a four day weekend with Memorial Day

I picked this Deka Battery sign out of a mans junk pile in his yard? Crazy how some people treat items like this!!! It is in near mint shape

I added this Veedol outboard motor oil can to the collection after restoring it a bit, removing the rust with some apple cider vinegar and rubbing it out with some good cleaner wax!

Although not old! But I added three Ace energy drink cans to the collection, I really liked the graphics

I don't like adding too many reproduction items to the barn, but my wife picked up these oil cans for me from her favorite store...Hobby Lobby So I hung them up...

I had made this hardware cabinet for the barn between Christmas and New Years, well I finally got around to organizing all my hardware in it this week "Nothing ever happens too fast in DaBarn" I still have four empty draws left!

I have been spending a **** load of time mowing the yard too this spring! It has been growing so fast I have had to mow it every other day! I'm now regretting fertilizing it

While I'm on a organizing terror in DaBarn! I have been wanting a nice cabinet for all my power tools, So I ran to the local Home Depot Saturday and decided on this Husky 46" toolbox. I liked the fact that my tools would be on wheels and I like the hardwood top on it too, I fit everything in it that I wanted to and still have four draws left over! "Drives would be proud"

I have yet to take any time to work on the shear mount or stand? I do like the idea of a hitch type mount on the bench and thanks for posting some different ideas for me to consider

I'm excited to have the new shear, but I have yet taken the time to work on a mount for it, I have been so busy with work and taking care of my yard and I'm also working on a foundation for a new shed and I also added a bunch of limestone to the driveway..."never enough hours in the day"

Thanks for the the visit! The Husky toolbox is a great addition to the barn and a great way to get all my power tools in one cabinet that's on wheels, I was a little concerned about the quality, but I was quite happy with it after getting it all together and set up

I got a great deal on the walk/don't walk light and the paint was in great shape so I didn't have to repaint it, I just had to buy a sequencer off of Ebay and rewire it A great addition to "THE LITTLE PARTY BARN"

I have been wanting to build a shed for the mower, spreader, sprayer and the rakes, shovels and other things. My wife talked me into just buying one, there are several Amish in the area building and selling them. I decided to go with a 10' x 16' shed and didn't want to have it sit directly on the ground so I'm making a pad for it out of #73 crushed limestone with some 8 ml black plastic underneath. It was a easy way to get the spot for the shed level. Its nice working for a company that has some heavy equipment! I used our dump truck to haul the load of stone home, I need to bring home the plate compactor and compress the stone some before the shed arrives. The four stakes will be where the corners of the shed will be, but the shed will sit on two 6" x 6" treated runners. The stone and plastic will keep the weeds out and keep the varmints from wanting to dig under it

Question you may know? When keeping OLD chemicals such as Oil cans, do you empty them out or keep chemicals in them? I have a huge collection starting but some are leaking and not sure what I should do? drill holes in bottom or drain pans under them???

We had a rough winter here in my area! so i'm really enjoying this spring

I have been organizing and moving out a lot of things, some left threw a garage sale this spring and a few items went via Craigslist. I have found if you have too many things it keeps you from getting anything done...too much clutter stresses me out

Can't wait till the shed arrives so I can get all the lawn care equipment out of the garage and barn

I got a little behind on posting anything to The Garage Journal, but I have been busy! I finally had the shed delivered to me and it turned out pretty awesome! it was nice to have the extra space to store the lawn mower, sprayer, spreader, wheelbarrow, snowblower and all the rakes, shovels and other lawn tools I have. I even had some extra room to store my table saw and chop saw (tools not used that often in DaBarn). I still need to make a couple of storage shelves to take advantage of the height of the shed.

It was pretty cool watching the delivery driver dropping off a 10'x16' shed all by himself with no physical effort at all! a very cool set up and process

I picked up a pretty cool pulley and a piece of rope for the barn here locally, I just haven't figured out how I want to display it yet? I think I will do what Don Long would do and make it look all prudy before hanging it up, maybe a quick sandblast and send it out to the powder coater

I scored this Royal Crown Cola clock on a recent pick, It was in pretty decent shape, I washed it down with just soap and water, I rewired it so just the bulbs light up! the clock works were humming but not turning? I pulled the three hands off of it and repainted them too, It had the date stamped inside of it, I thought that was pretty cool. I got it finished and hanging up but I didn't get a picture of it. I will post one later of it hanging in the barn

I picked up this Stoner Candy Machine on a recent pick, it is complete and I will start to restore this when I get time! Someone was not very to kind to this machine!!! I have always liked this machine and have been looking for one to add to DaBarn

I could not believe my luck when I ran across this National Cigarette Machine! I couldn't pass it up! I will someday restore it to its formal glory when time allows, but for now it resting inside DaBarn! I just love the old coin-op machines

Had a extra day off work and spent some time giving the Blazer some much needed love, Rubbing out a 1980 Chevy Blazer by hand wore me out! My shoulder and arm still hurt

I bought this vintage cigar coin-op vending machine for my son Cody a long, long time ago for a Christmas present, well I finally decided to get to restoring it!

This thing looks like it might of spent some time at the bottom of a lake

Got it all torn down! this is a pretty simple coin-op to work on

I sandblasted the base of the machine and it came off really hard, so I decided to strip the main body...

Now that I got all the old paint off I hit it with some 80 grit sandpaper and a DA

After sanding it with 80 grit I gave it a skim coat of bondo to fill in all the pits and spot welds, I will let it dry a bit and maybe block it down this weekend

I like the new rims on the blazer and chuckled to see the skim coat of bondo an the cigar machine. Reminded me that I need to get out in the shop and go back to work on the ferris wheel seat and sand down some bondo,

BF: i'm trying to get caught up on a few of my favorite threads since I've had my 85 year old dad in the hospital for a couple weeks.

that said you've been very busy. what with a new shed and some great finds you also managed to restore a few nice things too.

I HEAR YOU on the CLUTTER and sometimes I'd just like to hang a big FREE SIGN on my stuff in storage, but i'll get through it and keep what i like and find homes for some of the other good stuff.

keep up the great work and looking forward to seeing that cigar machine restored!!
