Well its now 2022 🎆

I finished up the five cans that I have been working on, I got them all painted and clear coated, and after letting them dry for a couple of days I finished them off today while watching the Bears game, I'm really happy with how they turned out.

Tony,
You did a great job on those cans!

Jon

Thank you, I really enjoyed working on these cans, I have three more old pour spout cans and another cone top can to paint, but I have too many other projects backing up o_O

I cleaned up two of the new plates I received for my plate collection, the New York plate was a little too rough.

I've been reading your thread and really enjoy your barn and all the cool things you've been doing out there. I don't know if you're shy Kansas, Missouri or Oklahoma, but I've got plates I will gladly send your way if interested.

Wow, nice work on the cans, lot of time and patience spent there. Nicely displayed too. (y)

Lamar

Thanks for the comment on the cans, I'm so glad to see you and The Buick Garage back and posting again, I decided to go back through your entire thread to review and take it all in and I just loved it, I need to find some time to leave some comments.

I have been super busy with my day job and this week the wife and I have contracted covid so we are down but not out.

I like the cans especially the green one.

Jim

Thanks, I really enjoyed working on those cans, I have some more lined up to work on, I just haven't had any time or energy to get in some good barn time.

What other states are you missing? I've been hoarding plates for years and now have way more plates than places to display them - I probably have a few states you are missing.

Sorry to hear about that Covid ****. It's no fun not having the energy it takes to go play in the garage I know.
Just lay low for a few days buddy.

Tony,
I hope you and your wife are soon well.
The covid has affected many people that I know, both personally and online.

Get well soon.

Hoping you and your wife a speedy recovery from Covid. Hopefully your symptoms aren’t too bad either.

Jay

Tony, hope you and the wife are both on the mend.

Guys

Thanks for all the kind thoughts and prayers.

Its been a couple of weeks now since my wife and I contracted covid, it literally kicked our ***!!! fevers, sweats and headaches, my wife lost her taste and smell but I did not, the worst part was it completely drained all of our energy, all we could do was lay around and sleep, I had to quarantine for 10 days away from work, so I actually missed six working days, that was hard for me, because I never miss work and it put me behind.

I don't want to start a political debate and get banded here from The Garage Journal, but while I was off and suffering from covid, I really started to get pissed off that I can't believe the entire world has not came together to hold China accountable for giving the world this ****???

23-X4.jpg

Now onto something awesome! I received two new license plates from Garage Journal member KansasProud, how AWESOME is that! thanks so much Alex.

I'm now up to 28 different states on my mission to get one plate from each state to display out in the garage, I have updated my state license plate spreadsheet.

Thanks to everyone that was kind enough to send me a plate.

01-X4.jpg

Awhile back I had purchased a US Cutter MH 871-MK2 brand vinyl cutter, while down and out with covid and cabin fever, I took the time to set it up and get started on figuring out how to start making my own decals and lettering, I must say, I have had a lot of fun playing with my new toy.

02-X4.jpg

Boy, if I could just do a test cut first :ROFLMAO:

03-X4.jpg

I designed this decal for a project that I'm working on that I will post up here soon, I had the green vinyl in the cutter so I did a practice cut.

04-X4.jpg

I cut these out of black vinyl to use them on some of my projects that I have started.

05-X4.jpg

Here's some of my first ever finished homemade decals 😎

☝️what he said, fantastic looking Tony.

Don, Jim

I don't think I'm ready to start a commercial business just yet, still learning o_O :ROFLMAO:

Aren't vinyl cutters cool. Good to see you got it up and going!
Here's one of my favorite re-pops.

Homebody

That is a great decal and tire changer, nice job on the restoration. I need a bunch more practice on this decal thingy, but it sure is fun

Spent a lot of time in the late 70's using that wheel balancer. Used to work double shifts in snow tire season.

Scott

I can remember every season going into the tire store with dad to get the snow tires mounted up, seems like everyone back then used them, they made a cool sound going down the road. :D

Thanks a million for sending those plates to me, I need to pay everyone back that sent me plates, I know I will be excited when I have all 50 (y)

Tony,
I've found a few that are still on your wanted list.. One question - some of my plates are dinged up sometimes - are you looking for perfect plates or are OK with some that have a little personality......?

Looking at that sure makes me feel better about living here even with the poor politics

Don

Yeah! I told the wife the other day that I wanted to move south, she said "well have fun with that" boy I'm sure going to miss that girl :ROFLMAO:

Bet you wished you still had the Blazer.

Scott

That Blazer never saw snow or salt, she was way too purdy 😎

That white stuff sends a chill down my back, is that amount of snow a regular occurrence for you? 🥶

Jay

Jay

I used to like that white **** as a kid, now not so much! its a regular occurrence here in northern Indiana, we are right in line with the jet stream and we get a lot of lake effect snow, so January and February are rough.

I love it that Central and Southern Illinois usually gets more snow and ice than we do up near the Wisconsin border anymore! :)

Homebody

I would like to retire someday where there's no snow o_O

I would appreciate any of the plates you have (y)

@Bears Fan PM Me your address and I can shoot you a North Dakota plate!

bepjrfan

That would be awesome of you!

Brrrrrrrr no thank you.

Don, Ca is nice but not sure I’d want to live there again.

Shorty

I may have to come to Florida for the winter and become a snowbird, do you have any room in that garage office? I will have to go out and buy a pair of Florida safety shoes first 😎

You are going to love that sand blast box
I use mine all the time. I told my wife that a few of you guys are buying label making machines and she smiled and said I want one too.
I hope she gets one soon.

Tony, put your best snow shovel in the car and drive south. Every time you fill up, bring the snow shovel into the station. When someone says "What the hell is that?" you've reached your destination.

Bob

That's funny! I will come down to Florida and split time between your house and Shorty's for the winters  :ROFLMAO:

I'm excited to get the cabinet going, I have a few more of those cans I want to blast and paint

If that is the one you bolt together... caulk all the joints as you assemble it....
I have one that I upgraded the gun to a foot pedal valve from T-P tools, works good....

LynnW

Lynn

I fell down the YouTube rabbit hole watching videos on how to make this a great blast cabinet, and I want to do it right! I have several upgrades in mind, I have been watching this guys YouTube videos and I'm going to follow his instructions for the most part, he does a good job with his videos, its a six part series.

Oooo, interested to follow along on the blaster. I want to get a smaller counter top one. No room for a floor model.

Homebody

I just started with the hopper for the sandblaster.

02-X4.jpg

First I removed all the stock foam that came on the seams of the blaster with the wife's hair dryer

03-X4.jpg

I bought 3M double sided tape to use on the seams, I picked up the tape before I watched Ray's videos, if I had to do it over again I may of just used RTV silicone sealer on the seams, the 3M tape did work out really well at holding the seems together (y)

04-X4.jpg

Hey don't laugh! yes I'm putting this whole thing together in the house :ROFLMAO: 🥶❄️

I have the the hopper put together with the 3M tape on the seams and the stock bolts that came with the kit, I put the bolts in from the inside out, the heads of the bolts are smaller then the nuts, this will help keep the media from catching on the bolts and keep it flowing through the system, some people even grind down the heads of the bolts, but i did not go that far.

05-X4.jpg

I used polyurethane sealant to glue the square ring to the outside of the hopper and bolted it down to with some of the hopper bolts until it dries, the instructions call for putting this ring between the hopper and the cabinet, but all the videos I watched recommend putting it on the outside or bottom.

06-X4.jpg

I used this Loctite brand sealer, its what they recommended and you are able to paint it after seven days.

07-X4.jpg

I flipped it over and ran a small bead of the caulk on the four seams on the inside, I have yet to decide if I will paint the caulk? they claim it will make it more slick so the media will slide to the bottom of the hopper easier.

that's all for tonight I'm tired 😩
