Thx guys I could have sworn I looked there. Pretty sweet deal with the shipping and residential delivery. They are obviously targeting the casual user. Good stuff.

I say it's still too low but I have a different use case than the typical guy working on cars.

I really wish they would have upped the weight capacity by a LITTLE... and made it lift 1' higher... I feel like they missed the ball on this one. They could have seized the market by a tighter grip.

The added feature is nice since a lot of us drilled multiple holes in the columns to be able to use it in more than 2 lifting spots.

hello. Long time lurker on here. I am finally posting. After years of looking and saving it was time to buy a "hobby" lift for my low ceiling garage. Ceiling is around 9'. After a lot of researching I settled on the MaxJax. Then a couple of weeks ago the MX-6 was advertised. I bought it.

Included was free shipping and free "lift gate" service, which was very convenient for me. ABF Freight was the shipper and the guy who delivered the palate was great. I have a long driveway from the street to the garage and wheeled the palate almost the entire length to the garage.

I will post pics later of the palate but it's typical of what you see with other MaxJax deliveries.

I have begun to assemble the "towers". The locking engagement mechanism needs to be assembled on mine and there are no instructions other than a few crude diagrams of how the engagement lock works. I will contact Danmar and get a picture of the orientation of the return springs for the engagement lock. I assembled the system how it seems it should work but the engagement locks are always in a "locked" position. I'm not sure how to lower the lift you would need 3 people to accomplish the task: two at each engagement lock holding it "open" and one person at the pump releasing pressure. So, I have something wrong I'm sure.

Otherwise so far it looks good. More to come as I continue the install and test for the first time.

Congratulations!

I bought the MX-6 last week too. ABF is delivering today.

Congrats to you.
I still have not drilled the holes for the anchors. I have been reading about the epoxy anchors. What are your plans Dannnn? I plan to use the wej-it anchors sent with the lift.

I believe I have the engagement lock mechanism assembled correctly but I have not tested it. Soon I hope.

we should ask dannmar about an upgrade

From what I see I don't think an "upgrade" is possible. The engagement lock mechanism is pinned to the side of the lift tower. Two studs are welded to the tower to react again the engagement lock mechanism. The lifting mechanism has catches on it to catch the lock mechanism.

I used the Wej-it concrete anchors included with the lift; no epoxy. I have about 5" thick floors; not sure exactly the depth as the previous owner of the house had the floor poured several years ago but it meets the requirements. The floor is smooth with no cracks.
I rented a Dewalt hammer drill and a 7/8" SDS Max bit from Home Depot. It drilled my holes with absolutely no problem. All the holes were straight and smooth. I did not drill a pilot hole, just straight the 7/8".
The anchors required a bit a persuasion with a mallet to go into the holes.
I turned the nut a full three turns as the instructions said and every anchor caught the concrete without a problem.
All the anchors stayed below the concrete floor surface about 1/8" to 1/4". Also, each anchor bolt was torqued to 90 ft*lb with the lift installed. No problems. No issues.

Here are a few pics of the lock engagement mechanism on the Maxjax MX6. The lock is "engaged" when the lever is down. The lock is "released" when the lever is up.

For whatever reason the pics are rotated to the same orientation during the upload process no matter how I save them on my local drive.

Just ordered mine today. For those that got them, how long did it take for delivery?

I received mine within 10 days. I ordered directly from Danmar.
ABF Freight delivery.
Did you get free delivery and free lift gate service?

Yes it had the free delivery and free lift gate service so I opted for both of those. Thanks for the info. Looking forward to getting it and having it setup. I wanted this 2yrs ago when I ordered my midrise but my concrete at the time wasn't thick enough. Since then I've finished my shop with thicker concrete so I'm excited.

Well I got mine and had it installed. I really like it. Although I think the spacing between columns needs to be updated for this version. I had two sets of holes drilled and currently the lift is at 120" outside of the columns to outside of columns. My wife's Mazda 3 barely fit between them I mean I had to squeeze out of the door to get out of the car and that's a pretty small car. Luckily this is my narrow setting. I'm going to move the column to the 135" wide setting and see how that works. Overall I really like this lift. One of my columns though doesn't seem to want to come down as smoothly as the other so I'll have to keep an eye on that. Wasn't an issue so far but it just isn't as smooth as I would like it to be.

I like having the 2 post much better than the Bendpak MD6-XP I have in my other garage. Swinging the arms in from the outside to me is much easier and having full clear path underneath the car is a huge bonus. As far as the release mechanisms, you don't need multiple people you just have to walk to one column release it then walk to the other column release it, then back to the pump and lower.

Thank you so much for these pictures! Got mine installed up to the lock mechanism and was kicking myself since it's Saturday and they're only a Mon-Fri shop

Wishing I would have waited and got the lift with the locking mechanism. My lift lifts one side faster than the other but only like an inch or two.

I think I'm ready to pull the trigger on this one. Do you have any better pictures of the locking mechanism, like both sides of the post? Haven't found any of these on the east coast. The ones that advertise selling it near me say it gets shipped from California. So when I finally do order it will be coming from California. Will probably order it direct from the MaxJax site at that point.

pictures for the locking mechanism helped, but the manual doesn't tell you how to set those up right, at least I can't find it :)

You are correct. Instructions did not show how to set up the locking mechanism. I assume you figured it out just as I did. If you need a detailed photo I can post one up.

New Install: Went Up; Won't Come Down. HELP!

Thanks to all the great posts here and in the original MaxJax thread my install seemed to be going flawlessly! Even rigged 36' hose through overhead PVC to keep the floor open (though I assume that's why I needed 12 quarts of hyd fluid to fill the system).
After running the motor until both sides were at the top I bled both sides (neither side dropped though I got fluid from both), raised the safety lock handles, and when I pushed and held the lowering lever I could initially hear air release, but the lift did not move down.
What the heck did I screw up here????
Thanks in advance for your help!!!!!

So the new locks will automatically catch the car on the closest one if something were to go wrong while lifting?
That's the complain of the old one where you have to rely on the hydraulic and, faith, before you insert a locking pin?
With the spring loaded latch it looks like it. I would not think ALI would certify this one if they did not have this.

so like you guys I have a 9' garage ceiling and although the car I would use on this is a corvette I still won't be able to stand under it, I'm 6'3".

My question for those of you with these lifts and have had them for a while are they good, did they hold up, would you buy one again?

I didn't see where a floor thickness was mentioned, I might have missed it, but what thickness is min?

Thanks for any feedback.

The fluid needs to be displaced back to the pump , so 36 feet hose up the ceiling could be a problem if that's not a typo

No typo: I needed almost 12 qts before the motor pumped up the lift. So the "drain" valve must not be opening and allowing the lift to lower. Something's weird here as I read several posts where guys ran 40+ feet of hose and didn't have this problem.

Can you get any more air out if you bleed it again?

If I run the motor to pump up the pressure in the system, I'll get air when I crack the bleeder valve. As soon as I hit the down valve handle I hear the air pressure release, but the lift heads do not go down. If I then crack the bleeder valves, no air escapes, but hyd fluid is just under the bleeder valve. Have manually confirmed locks are disengaged and blocks are not binding in the columns (I can easily move the heads upwards about 1.5 inches from where they rest on the column).

I'm far from a hydraulics expert but I don't think air should be getting in there so quickly. There was a thread recently of someone with the same symptoms and it turned out it wasn't bled entirely. The length of hose shouldn't really matter as long as the pump has enough output. It just effectively creates a larger reservoir. The Maxjax doesn't lower well without weight to begin with. Any air and it can get stuck. IIRC you want to bleed with pressure (i.e.: the release valve is shut). Is air possibly getting in through one of the hose connections?

Hey Gary,

Recognize your name from the Corvette forums - I'm DC3 on those forums. Wish you were closer to me. I'd let you rebuild the diff on my '73.

Anyway, I had the same question as you about floor thickness. Wasn't easy to find but eventually I stumbled across this link: https://www.maxjaxusa.com/requirements

From that link, these are the concrete requirements:

1) 4" minimum thickness
2) Compressive strength of 3,000 PSI
3) Floor must have no more than 3 degrees of slope.
