Hey Gary,

Recognize your name from the Corvette forums - I'm DC3 on those forums. Wish you were closer to me. I'd let you rebuild the diff on my '73.

Anyway, I had the same question as you about floor thickness. Wasn't easy to find but eventually I stumbled across this link: https://www.maxjaxusa.com/requirements

From that link, these are the concrete requirements:

1) 4" minimum thickness
2) Compressive strength of 3,000 PSI
3) Floor must have no more than 3 degrees of slope.

DC

Thanks DC
I just moved into a new house with a car garage on the house and 3 car out back with 200 amp service and oil heat. I plan on setting up a home machine shop for the vette work and use the other 2 bays for my cars. I have to see if I can find any information from the garage builder, a well known garage company here. Hopefully they have records on this build.

For the vette you can ship it to me, I have them all over the world so that's not a problem or I can coach you on how to do it, I guarantee it will be the best out there- bar none.

I meant to post this earlier. Since installing this lift in my shop and trying to work with the company to resolve issues it has been returned to them and this is not a company I will ever do business with agai. I’ll try not to make this too long winded, but I do want to share with others before they invest in this. Not only did I lose the money I paid to have it professionally installed but the company was horrible to work with and the whole process ended up taking 3 months to get my money back.

Ok so here goes. Professionally installed and yet the locking mechanisms would get hung on the way down. I would have to keep going back and forth from 1 post to the next at each stop to try and get the car down. The problem appeared to be with the design of the release latches themselves. So I contacted the company to try and resolve the issue. On the first contact the representative was rude and immediately suggested that the lift wasn’t installed correctly, one of the posts must not be level, etc... etc...

After multiple conversations and sharing very detailed video of the problem they finally agreed to send me a new part. Ok, part arrived installed and I was hopeful. However even after the new part the release mechanisms still would not work correctly. So back to support again. This went on for a long time and their answer was always that I needed to put weight on the lift since I was lowering it without a vehicle. Although I understand why they would want this I explained to them that until the lift raised and lowered freely I wasn’t comfortable putting my car on it to “test”.

At this point they said we can’t help you then. So I offered the option if they were to send me something in writing saying that they had observed the operation and it was normal that I would go ahead and put the car on there. Of course due to liability they would not agree to this. However in my view this says that they aren’t actually comfortable with the operation but want me to take the risk with my financial investments and safety. This back and forth carried on for a few more calls, more videos showing what I thought the problem was until finally I gave up and asked for a refund. I’ve previously had a BendPak lift which had an issue too, but BendPak was much easier to deal with and worked to resolve the issue quickly.

After it was decided that they would offer me a refund - shipping costs of course and - my installation costs of course. So I agreed because at this point my interactions with the company led me to believe this was not a company I would want to do business with again if there was some other problem down the road. From here it became a scheduling game of them scheduling a pickup, me coming home from work to meet them there only to find they sent a full size semi which couldn’t get into my driveway. On and on this went until finally I got so fed up I just loaded the lift into my trailer myself after repackaging it and driving it to the shipping company.

Finally after about 3 months they did end up isssuing a refund for the lift itself. The end result was a huge loss of money (Installation & Shipping Charges) and more importantly to me time. For others who have had a good experience with this company I’m happy for you. This may have been a fluke incident, maybe the guy I was working with wasn’t having a good time at home, who knows. What I do know is that given my overall experience I would never buy another product from them and going forward I’m going back to BendPak.
