Several years ago I picked up a Dealership workbench from an ad on Craig's list. Posted some photos on here. Put it up on furniture dollies and shuffled it in and out of my way for several years. About a year ago one of my friends had some credit built up with a local media blaster. He gave the credit to me. That got me moving. Began removing all the sheet metal, then took it down to the blaster. I repaired and painted the basic angle iron frame while the blaster did his magic. Talked another friend into painting it for a reasonable fee. He has a small shop and as with most painters . . . it was on his schedule.

All the bare sheet metal was shuffled to the painter and after a bit of bodywork, was primed and eventually painted. I selected pretty traditional colors and they match my '65 Corvair convertible. Cool Vanilla with a dark red strip to match the interior. For the last couple of weeks I have been putting everything back together. Picked up the hand lettered marque sign this morning so time for some photos. If everything works there should be a before photo along with a couple of the cabinet as it is today. May even slip in a photo of the Corvair.

Very cool. Does the bench opening have a roll down garage door type cover?

Although it would be extra kool, no roll down garage door cover for the middle section. Some do but not this one. Will post some photos of the inside tomorrow.

Very nice
I would be tempted to out it in my family room and use it to hold a flat panel tv

As promised, some inside and detail photos are ready to post. This cabinet was made by Natkin, but those made by Alemite were more popular and the majority of those remaining out there.

Behind the center doors is a integral shelf a little over half way up. I am replacing my roll around tool cart with this so I needed tool storage. So I purchased two of the cheaper black Harbor Freight tool carts and cut them down to fit the area above and below the shelf. The quality of the drawers is not nearly as nice as the HF 5 drawer red tool cart, but the size of the black drawers fit the openings I had better.

The top set of drawers is mounted solid to the shelf while the bottom unit has casters and will roll in and out.

Nothing in the side cabinets right now except the tracks for adjustable shelving. Thinking about putting Corvair diecast and model car dioramas in the upper half and storage in the bottom half.

This workbench is in the secondary shop by the lift. My main tool box is in the working shop and is a 44" HF setup.

In the center rear of the tabletop is not a power cord, but a retracting air hose with rollers. The hose has the cabinet company's name embedded in it. The top material is some sort of wood (I think) composite in two layers. Needless to say is was covered in grease, oil and grime. Scraped as much muck off as possible then used solvent to get the rest. Not the most ideal surface, but I don't plan to do any heavy work on it.

I have some accessories for the desk including an old black dial telephone, wrinkle finish lunch box, 40's film noir desk fan and a few roadmaps from the 50's.

Thanks for the great pics and explanations, it is really tricked out. I am jealous as all hell, but nice to see that it exists!
