3/8 steel pipe is about 7/16, I have cleaned ******* with 7/16 bit, 1/2 using a 5/8. It dresses and smooths them, removes any burs. Makes the 3/8 carry 2x a hose. If it is upwind of the regulator the losses are very minimal and even less an issue than after reg.

This doesn't mean squat to blasting. If you are using more air than the comp can make blast time is very short. Pretty much the same for most rotary tools except impacts which have a burst demand, 2 or 3 times what the comp can produce. This is the purpose of the tank,,,,, can output more for short time than the comp can pump. A 3/8 hose on the secondary will drain this machine in a hurry.

That picture shows a 3/4” pipe bushing on the side.

The parts list on that link shows it as a 2" to 3/8". The OEM may install different bushings according to the specs of the marketer of a particular brand.

ETA: It shows that the bushing is NPSM to NPT, so be careful to get the correct thread if you were to go that route. There is also an O ring under the bushing as straight threads need something to help them seal.

If I was he'll bent on changing it would take it out, drill and tap or start it up drill and tap with it blowing out. But,,,, there just isn't much to gain here.

This is kind of like buying a common light pickup truck for the family. Most of its use is getting groceries and sandblast is like pulling a camper on occasion but then we gonna worry about its top speed at 110 mph,, the speed limit is 55 and you can drive 85 on the freeway.
85 is a 1/2 impact, 110 is a 3/4 and if a guy is going 110 regular he bought the wrong vehicle.
The camper uses its power but losing a little top speed doesn't mean much. Have a pound or 2 loss while blasting is irrelevent. Changing the blast supply hose from 3/8 to 1/2 doesn't really improve with this size comp, plug them in from a 50 ft reel and run it out of air just as fast as a larger hose.

It is, the air jet but if a guy is using much more than the pump makes he aint blasting long. In the case of the op around 12 as I recall. Not causing any loss thru a 3/8 pipe ******. You can pass 35 with a common quick connect. Some of them 72 with 1/4 inch piping and doesn't change the rating with larger fitttings. Type H is 72 cfm thru 1/4 ports or 1/2.
