Last year I bought a set of Milwaukee ShockWave metric impact sockets. The differentiator was the bold white numbers on the side. I always have a hard time reading lettering that's embossed in the material.

I recently bought a set of these my cart, I really like them for the same reason you stated. They're also (what I consider) properly necked down for good access, and every socket I've used so far has fit well. I liked them so much I bought the 1/4" and 1/2" drive sets too. As with most things Milwaukee, I'd only recommend them when they're on sale.

My work (a municipality) recently bought a set of Blackhawk impact sockets. I'm impressed. But they are 1/2" drive.

Also, I have an older set of Wright impact sockets that I love. I would give Wright a look.
+1 on the Wright's

I got a 1/2" Dr set a few years ago during Epstein's and the 3/8" more recently. I have been very satisfied with them. They
are fairly priced, have deep & easy to see size markings, and aren't unnecessarily thick like some cheaper brands can be.

My dad just got himself a set of Carlyle that comes in a big blue case that's metric and standard deep well then a set of duralast shallow metric and standard. $30 a piece on duralast standard or metric and it's an easy brand to warranty, walk into AutoZone with the piece and walk out with a new one. Don't know much about Carlyle but it was about $130 for all the sizes so not a bad price.

Personally I just have a set of Snap on standard shallow that's never been used. Haven't seen any use for 3/8 impact myself enough to not use 1/2 with a hex adapter or a impact grade nut driver. Nut drivers are probably as thin walled as you can get too.

I like the quality of my Sunex sockets but the legends on them are horrible. A tiny stamp and tiny laser etching that wears off basically immediately. The drive end isn't chamfered either which is something I don't like.

if I could do it over again I'd probably still buy the Sunex sockets since there's nothing as good and also CR-MO in the price range. I'm never going to buy a CR-V impact socket. I don't care what anyone says.
Try a paint stick to fill in the stamping, makes reading sizes easier for sure.
