When it rains it pours. Been busy with life and other **** the last couple of weeks. Prior to all hell breaking loose I tried to clean off some water spots on my chimney. I thought I might be able to get them off without painting it. Nope! the pressure washer ended up taking some brick off on the edges. So it looks like im going to have to paint it.
I went back to work for an unknown duration. But the wife called me and told me she was in an accident. I was able to dip out for the day. Wife was headed up to pick up our oldest for an appointment. She was stopped at a four way. She had the right of way. Proceeded through the intersection when the other party involved decided to go. They hit my wifes car on the front drivers side. Wife wasn't injured however she was sore the next day. The other party was a 19 yr old kid picking up his siblings at the local HS. They weren't hurt.... I was able to pick up the wife at the scene. I took a look at the car. It looked drivable. I opened the hood and saw the radiator was cracked and the motor looked like it was shifted a bit. I thought that was sorta weird for a minor fender bender. Wifes car is a 16 ford explored... paid off

Fast forward today the auto body shop informed my wife that the car will most likely be totaled. They are up to 17k in repairs. Which the insurance company Said the other party is at fault and we dont have to pay anything... ha ha. They gave us a rental car and we dont have to pay a premium. When it comes to the car the mechanic said that the frame rails are bent on both sides. I know the photo doesn't show much. He said ford will not authorize them to straighten the rail which equals a totaled car.... thats paid off. The insurance company stated the other party was now claiming injury. The adjuster said that its bs and not to worry. We get to keep the rental for 10 days after the insurance co gives us a pay out. Its a ****** time to try and buy a car. All the prices are insanely high. Which means no matter how much they give us for the car we re still out of money....

Life has been pretty crazy lately. With being down a car, dealing with the insurance co, work, kids... ect I haven't been able to do much. I was able to score some much needed days off. While I was off I hit home depot. Bought some 1x1 to make a cage for my raised garden beds. I also made another raised bed. I noticed that something has been eating my strawberries so this cage will fix that. Ive made 3 prior to these 3. I turned out ok, as much as one would expect working with 1x1. I have some green netting that will show up on monday. Hopefully I can get these finished prior to my prison sentence back to work.

Wife decided on a new car. Our car had been paid off for a while but with the market being what it is we felt it was best just to buy a new vehicle. This will be our 3rd explorer and the 4th car we've bought from this dealer. Its a 2022 explorer v4 turbocharged RWD. Just got window tint put on yesterday. I bought some black lug nuts that I will be putting on today.

My sniper EFI holly kit showed up a week ago... Its going to go on the jeep. I want to make my 327 fuel injected. I probably wont get to this project till the end of the month if that.

For fathers day my wife got me a new grill for my truck. The original one was pretty hammered. I tried to rattle can it black... over the yrs it started to flake off. I like the look of the new grill. Today im gonna wire the lights for it. My kids birthday was the other day so we had a pool party and I was stuck building a star wars lego thing for him lol.

ITs been a minute since I've posted on here. Ive been pretty busy. Most of my time is taken by work... Defiantly not by choice. We are short staffed. I typically work 10-12 days a month*24hr shifts*. But ive been averaging over 15 to 20 days. So when I actually make it home Im playing catch up around the house and the family. Its been tuff on the fam hopefully things get better soon.

When im not spending time in my shop I enjoy Jiu jitsu. I try and go at least once a week. But with work and family the priority Its tuff to make it twice a month. Pre covid I was going 2-3 times a week. after that things slowed down. I went to class the other day and got a stripe on my belt. My progression is slow. Im an older guy I dont wanna get hurt. But I still show up.

I finally finished up the raptor grill. I found the right wire to get the amber lights working. After that I had to build some shelves for my kids bedroom. Hes got a bunch of lego sets that hes built. He wanted to display them so we bought some shelves to hold all is completed projects. Both my kids have been on a lego kick lately. Ive tried to get them in sports but they're not in to sticks or balls.

Last week I had some time to cut up some cardboard. My wife ordered a **** ton of patio furniture plus left over boxes from my sons b day. I took a couple of weeks for me to fit all the cardboard into the recycle can.

Some good news Im going to have a few days off... the bad new is I got the rona... again. I started feeling sick a few days ago. I was testing negative up until yesterday. Pretty mild symptoms nothing crazy. The other morning I saw my dog laying by our pool. Hes deathly afraid of water. I thought it was funny he was laying off the side of the pool. The other day my wifes peloton showed up. Its pretty bad ***. One guy showed up and installed it. Took about 10 mins. But damn that thing is heavy.

I was able to acquire a piece of sheet metal that matches my trim. I cut a pie shaped piece to cover up any openings from my attic fan. I used my cordless angle grinder to cut it. Then I just stuffed it under the trim and put some self tappers to secure it. I added some foam in a few spots to keep the rain out of my shop. Its not the best but it will work. Theres a actual set you can purchase on the internet that will fill the gaps damn near perfect for about $200. I only spent 1/4 of that with this install. Eventually im going to add another attic vent on the other side of the shop but that will be when the weather cools down. It was hot AF while I was working on this. Lots of beer breaks.

We've been getting some interesting weather the past few days. Its cooled off a bit but its been humid af. After spending the last three days at work I finally got some time to get in the shop. Its been a mess so I fired up the stihl blower to get all the dirt and leaves out. In the process I saw that my hard hats were on the floor. Ive been using plastic hooks that you can tape up on a surface. For whatever reason they dont seem to like the sheet metal much or the heat. So I figured Id make a bracket with some hooks to solve the problem. I used my angle grinder to clean up the metal a bit from the rust. I had about an hour to spend on it before I had to call it a day. So I should be able to finish it in the afternoon.

I had an almost full day in the shop. I finished up the hard hat rack. I might rattle can it. We ll see. The next day I took a break and hit seaward with my boyz. It was nice to get them out of the house. On the way home we stopped by jockos place, Victory MMA. I picked up a couple of shirts. My goal is to start on the jeep soon.

Finally got around to hanging my old grill in the shop. While I was at it I decided to put my weight bench up there as well. I typically dont use it. Between the gym and work I really have no use for it. But ill keep it use incase lock downs happen again. I pulled some green onion out of the garden to make some salsa. While I was pulling the onion I noticed something had gotten to one of my wifes peach trees. Whatever it was it left the pit behind. So I set up the trail cam to catch the a hole and find out who's doing it. Cleaned out my sons closet found an old SCBA make out of an extinguisher. I hung it in the shop below the MSA. Next project will probably be the pressure washer...

My wife an I wanted to clean up the front yard a bit and get turf installed. Inorder to do that I needed to move some pea gravel and install some drains. Moving the pea gravel I used my wheel barrow. It took me about 3 days to move doing about 10 or so loads a day in the 100 plus heat. After that I rented a trencher to add a drain over toward my front door. That area tends to flood. So I tied it in with the existing drain that dumps out toward the wash. While I had the trencher I decided to finish my drain system from my pool towards my shop to the wash. The trencher I rented wasn't the best. There were also some hard spots in the dirt that the trencher wouldn't dig into. The drains where the truf is have been finished but its been soooo freaking hot I haven't finished the drains by the shop. Im waiting for cooler weather. The turf turned out pretty good. Pretty expensive but doesn't require a lot of maintenance. I didnt want all the other things that come with real grass... sprinklers, water, mowing..ect.
I also figured out that I dont wanna be a plumber. The drain under the turf toward the was sorta drains slow. I rented a drain snake to unclog it. I figured its gotta be a combination of dirt and leaves that are preventing it from draining freely. I used the snake in the peak of the heat... only used it for about an hour and called it a day. I was unable to get the drain to clear but It drains way better. Using that snake was a pain in the ***.

I finally installed a new valve stem on my trailer tire. The wife gave me some grief that the trailer was up on a jack missing a tire. So I finally fished out the broken valve stem in the tire. My hand got pinched a few times. The tire holds air didnt need to us the air gun to get it to seal. But I had to change my shirt after. Still too hot to be in the hot i guess.

After a few weeks of an open trench in the back yard, I finally finished my drain project. There were some spots that I had to dig a little bit with my pick axe. I should be able to test it pretty soon. It suppose to rain tonight and tomorrow. Now all I have to do is pick up my mess.

Finally was able to tinker in the shop for a few hrs after the kids got out of school. Ive had this ammo can sitting on my bench for almost a month. Figured today was a good time to start turning it in to a propane fire pit. I stumbled upon a youtube video where a guy makes a fire pit out of an ammo can. I thought this might be a good thing to have in my truck with winter right around the corner. Amazon sells a overland er ammo can propane fire pit for 200 bucks. Im in this for about 50 bucks so far. I had the ammo can laying around the shop. Used my metal cutting disk to make a square on both sides of the can. The disk wouldn't cut the metal mesh very well. The torch cut through it pretty well. I need to make a hole for the brass fitting for the propane. Out of all the drill bits I have and hole saws I dont have a 3/4" bit. Ill have to go and get one this week sometime. Im going to tack weld the mesh inside the can with one section 2" from the bottom. That will protect the burner. Im going to use a small section of brass pipe.

After many times going to the shop and forgetting my key I decided to install a smart lock. Finally was able to clean up a bit and finish up the shed inside the shop. I put my gas powered weed wicker and pressure washer. I had the ammo can parts laying on my bench and needed to make room. Best way to make room is to finish. I make a bs burner out of copper pipe and drilled holes in it. I was pretty sure tack welding the ammo can I was gonna burn through the thin metal. But I needed to so I could put the mesh up. I fired it up but didn't get a picture. The hose to the can from the tank doesn't seat very well to the valve so i might need to replace that which is going to be a pia. Brass is a soft metal so I might be able to rethread.... TBC

Finished up the overland er propane fire pit. Im going to fab a holder that I can put in the bed of my truck. I was hoping I could put the hose and fit the bottle in the can but it didnt work out. To finish it up Im gonna rattle can some green paint.

Needed to change oil in the F250. Didnt make a mess... even wearing a white shirt.

Over the weekend we got hit with a bunch of rain. I was stuck at work when it happened. The wife called me to tell me there was some water in my shop. She said it didnt ruin any of my treasures. I think the flooding would have been worse if I hadn't of finished up my drains. I still have a little bit of work to do. The main issue is the trench that I used for my utilities sunk down a bit after I filled the trench. Creating a water shoot directly toward my shop. I didnt know that there was a gap in between the slab and metal frame. I cut a small section of sheet metal and put it down where the water was coming in from. I hope this will help until I can divert the water else where. I used the pressure washer to get all the mud out of the shop an off the apron.

Yesterday morning I got off work had to go do some blood work. I needed to fast, so I didnt get coffee. I was sorta hungry and hit the wife up for a breakfast burrito. She told me theres a bunch of wood at the college *her work*. So we sat and had breakfast in her office. She told me where the wood was located on campus. The college is in the process of getting rid of all the eucalyptus. So next to the road there was a bile, enough to fill up my truck. I start filling up my truck and I see a guy in a golf cart make a b line for me. He yells at me that im busted as if to scare me.... Naw I still load my truck and tell him naw man I got permission but thank you. He asked me who gave me permission like i would lie to him. I tried hard not to name drop but I told him the dean.... which one? Dan ******. At that moment the man on the golf cart became my friend.... he offered me more fire wood. I told him its cool Im just grabbing this and headed home. He asked me what how I knew about this wood. Eh my wife works here she's a director of one of the departments. Anyway it was enough to fill the bed of my truck.

After I unloading I decided to try and get the gas out of the YJ to prep for the throttle body/fuel pump. The harbor freight pump hose wasn't long enough to get to the bottom of the tank. I had to take a smaller hose and feed it into the orange hose. Then I ran some duct tape around it so It would hold together. I was able to get all the gas out but I was afraid I wouldn't get the hose out that it would separate and It would be in the tank forever. But it all worked out. Sorta made a mess but now my concrete is cleaner in a few spots.

@DeeDubz, free firewood is great. Many years ago, our house in upstate NY was one of five or six in the development with a fireplace. Wife passed a county crew that was cutting dead trees along the road. She knew they had to drive an hour to get rid of the debris and suggested they dump it at our house a few blocks away. They radioed their office and after a few minutes got permission. Pretty sure they had to check which party we were registered with. That load of mostly oak filled up the side yard and lasted us several years.

I started my fuel injection journey on my YJ. I got tired of the carb bs so I bought a Holley EFI sniper kit. Its been sitting in the shop for a few months. I haven't had the time to pull anything out of the boxes... Until today. One of my kids was sick and stayed home from school. I couldn't go to jiu jitsu or the gym so I figured I make myself useful and try and do as much as I can to fix my Jeep and getting it running. It would be nice to have a extra vehicle on hand just incase diesel is out in our area. With the help of youtube university I installed the throttle body, coolant heat sensor and the vacuum lines. My bad on installing the heat sensor..... I thought I drained enough coolant.... naw I pulled the old heat sensor and spilled about 1 gallon of coolant. Lucky for me I had a catch at the bottom of the pan.

Now I need to buy some more tools. I need a right angle drill and a 3/4 step bit. My next install will be the o2 sensor *i think* on the exhaust. This is the time where it would be nice to have a lift. It would make things a lot easier but Im a few yrs away and will make due. Too be continued.

My YJ is pretty low to the ground for a jeep. This thing belonged to my dad prior to me owning. He wasn't much of a lift kit guy and wasn't a big off roader. I can barely crawl under it with a creeper. I might put it on some jack stands to give me some more height. This will help when I decide to put in the fuel system. My lift is in the form of the 8k that I spent on the front yard for turf. I might be able to swing a 10k lift next yr.

Decided to take a rest day and get some work done on the jeep. After the kids went to school I went to Homedepot and bought a right angle drill and a 3/4 drill bit. There have been plenty of times where I needed a right angle drill but I just make things work. The local home depot is such a pain in the *** to buy power tools from. Everything is locked up. I waited 15 mins for someone to show up after I asked to get the cage unlocked so I could purchase a power tool. Finally I walked in line and asked the cashier to get the tool.
After that I got home and went to work. The O2 sensor has to be 1nch to 18inch after the exhaust merge into one tube. And prior to the cat. The sensor needs to be at least 10degrees from level. To get to the exhaust I had to take 6 bolts out to drop the skid plate. After that I had access to the area where I wanted to mount it. The pain in the *** part was there wasn't a whole lot of room. The back of the drill was up against the frame while Im trying to drill the hole. After the hold was drilled I mounted the sensor and plugged it into the throttle body.

Yesterday I didnt get that much done, One kid stayed home sick... today both of them are staying home sick. I was able to hit tractor supply in the am but wasn't able to get any of the electrical stuff I needed. I found it on amazon but it wont be here till next week. I got a shorter stud for the air cleaner an add a fuse circuit. I used my test light and volt meter to check where I can tap in. I need a min of 12 volts when the ignition is turned on. When its cranking I need at least 9 volts. I also wired a couple of electrical wires to the battery. I thought about running the power to the fuel pump but I think I should wait and clean up the rats nest of wires first. Today If I get time Im going to try and start installing the fuel pump. Probably wont be able to get many updates for a few weeks. I go back to work this weekend then the wife an I will be out of town.

Not a shop update but ill post what Ive been up too. My wifes job provides for her to travel for conferences throughout the yr. This Nov I got to be a strap hanger to go to Chicago for AHA. Only thing I had to get was a plane ticket. Wifes travel and hotel was all provided. Ca-Denver-CHicago took about 4ish hours. Then a quick 1.5 hr drive *15miles* to our hotel which was right on the Chicago river down town. Both the wife an I have never been to the windy city. I wasn't sure what to expect. With all the shootings/ crime I was pretty hesitant on going. We ended up staying 5 days. We were able to do a ton of stuff but didnt get to do everything that we wanted.

Our view from our hotel room faced Lake Michigan and the Chicago river. I can check off one of the things that I wanted to see and that was a bridge raise. I was kicking in the room about 8 in the am when I noticed Traffic was stopped on both sides as a sail boat was loitering in the bay. Sure enough they raised the bridges. One of the days we took a boat ride on the river. They talked about the history of Chicago, Fort Dearborn, The birthplace of the modern skyscraper. I was told by a guy named tom that knows a hell of a lot more about the city than I do that the bridges typically only raise in the months of May and June.

We scored some tickets to the Bears vs Dolphins at soldier field. Too bad the bears lost but it was a great game good experience. On the trip home we flew over my station that I work at so I snapped a picture of it.

Chicago was such an awesome city. We defiantly will be going back. At no time did I ever feel unsafe. The people were super nice. We had great service. I recommend everyone to go. IF you go you have to try the Sky tower at the building formerly know as the Sears tower now called the Willis Tower. The sky deck is on the 103 floor. Pretty cool views at night.

Since we got back Ive been at work for 5 days Ill be off during the week. Hopefully I can work on the jeep.

@DeeDubz, I visited Chicago back in the '70s and loved it. Coming from New York at the time I found Chicago to be the biggest small town I'd ever visited. There's a lot to see, including the Field Museum, where two man-eating lions of Tsavo are displayed. The Ghost and the Darkness movie tells their story.

While I was at work the wife burned all of our fire wood that was split. Today I took a break from the gym and ran some errands. Got rid of 15 gallons of used oil. Went to home depot and bought some Bs. Finally after getting kids from school I pulled out the wood splitter. I had a pile of wood that ive had for about 8months. Theres a few piece left that I need to cut with the chain saw that are too long. This wood will probably last us a week or two. Its really not too cold in so cal and we typically only have a fire in the evening.
Also the wife has been bugging me to make a swing for the chickens. At the moment they aren't interested in it but by tomorrow they will be fighting to be on it.

I have a 16ft flat bed trailer. I bought it serval yrs back from my FIL for a good price at the time. It mostly sits next to my shop. However wife got volunteered to be in a Christmas parade by my sons Elementary school Principle. She knows my wife fairly well... long story short my wifes work is loaning out one of their golf carts for our family to be in the parade. Prior to me going to work I decided to check on the ol trailer. One of the tires was pretty flat. I ended up putting on the spare on. Yesterday I hit up les schwab tires and ended up getting two spare tires replaced. I had an old tire in the shop that was pretty feathered *cheap china tire*. Two replacement tires with an old tire deposed of was just over 300bucks.
Our dishwasher was starting to fall apart. Wife ordered a new one on line from the depot. They took the old one but I had to install the new one. Never done a dishwasher. The hardest part was getting it level.
Finally got around to taking a photo of the Christmas lights and decor at the house.

The Christmas parade was pretty fun. Kids had a good time other than hurry up and wait. We had to be in our staging area two hrs prior to the start. It wasn't too bad trailering the car to the start of the parade. Where the parade ended we were about 1/2 mile from our house so we drove the car to the house then the wife took me in the exploder to pick up my truck and trailer. The fluffy dog did very well in the parade We put some moose antlers on him. Finally got around to take a picture of my replacement tire for the trailer.

I bent the **** out of my license plate on the trailer. Any little dip folds it. They put it in a crappy place so close to the ground. So im gonna get some angle iron and fab a holder for it somewhere else that wont fold the place. Also need to get some fire wood, winter is finally here in so cal and its getting cold. Were using our fire place everyone night and during the day on the weekends im home. Got a pretty good hook up for 50bucks they'll fill my truck bed up with eucalyptus.

I hope everyone had good holidays. Our Christmas was celebrated a day early. I got force ****ed to work. Someone needed the day off more than me. It was kinda a bust for the kids. Only one grandparent made it out. My FIL isn't much of a people guy and would rather say home. My mom cant get a long with my wife so we didnt get invited. Its not like she's some evil person. We've been married for 15 yrs we have two kids. But its noise that I dont have the bandwidth for. I could tell she was but hurt but Im not choosing her over my wife.
For x mas I got a pretty cool Jeep man cave sign.
Over the first of the yr we received a **** ton of rain. Once again I had a little but of a mud flow into the shop. Im glad all my welding equipment is off the ground. Were suppose to get more rain next week. What I need to do is get some metal siding and add it to the side of the shop where its leaking. I figure ill dig about a foot down and put the siding in the trench and use some self tappers into the studs to keep it there.
Ive finally had some time to work on my YJ. I finished the electrical under the dash for the throttle body. Next I moved to the fuel pump. I assembled it with the post and pre filters. Im going to mount it to the side of the frame rail. I didnt realize it but my jeep has a skid plate under the gas tank. In order to access it I need to pull it off. I have 6 of the 8 bolts off. Two are that are giving me issues are facing the front of the jeep. One seems not to spin at all. Its pretty difficult to work under the jeep theres not much room to crawl under it. This is a point where I wish I had a lift. It would make things a lot easier. I put some jack stands on the rear axel. Maybe today or tomorrow ill mess with it.

Here's a vehicle of the hail storm we got on the first of the yr. We were in the hot tub when it poured.

The last week we've had santa annas *windy*. Prior to the wind event I decided to build a cage for one of my garden boxes. I had a few pees growing but It seems the birds ate them. I picked up some 1x2 and made an 8x4 cage. I had some left over garden netting in the shop. Im 4 ft short from finishing the job. I went to home depot to pick up some stuff I ran across a ryobi organizer. Im gonna buy a couple of tool shelfs today at the home depot. Im hoping to hear back from a guy that lives about 30mins away on a band saw I put an offer on.

My ryobi tool addiction has over grown my original tool organizer. I finally got around to buying an organizer at home depot. I didnt really feel like building a new one out of wood to expand my collection. These things are pretty cool. I found a little corner next to my tool chest that was perfect. I used 2x6 to attach the lego part to the wall. Originally I tried using a 2x4 but it wasn't wide enough to capture the anchor points of the lego piece. The 2x4 couldn't handle the weight of the shelf plus the tools and wouldn't stay level. I tried to get started on repairing my green houses. Im going to try and get around to it today.

Finally got some time to work on my YJ. I needed to drop the fuel tank to bypass the in the tank fuel pump. I was just about to drill some holes in the tank. Return line and fuel line to the pump when my inlaws showed up. They needed some help setting up their trailer. The top hatches are leaking. I figured its better for me to get up on top of the trailer to swap out vent hatches. My shops a damn mess i'll get some time this weekend to finish up the fuel part of the YJ. I had to order some parts. Go figure the Holley sniper EFI master kit i ordered didnt have all the necessary parts.... good thing for amazon.

Its nice to be home over the weekend. The wife had some HW to do for her masters so instead of bugging her I went in the shop and spent a good amount of time on the YJ. I pulled the old fuel pump out and blocked it with a chrome plate. Im sad to say I broke one bolt putting it on. I was using my ryobi battery powered ratchet. I know better... oh well. There wasn't a whole lot of room. Next time Ill have to take my time. I think ill just leave it like that no issues.
I finally got my blocks back. My inlays were using them to level their travel trailer in our yard. I trust these blocks more than jack stands. This will give me a lot more room with I go to put the tank back. I found a spot to put the fuel pump. I just put it a long the frame rail out of the way. I might have to had a heat shield. The exhaust pipe is kinda close. It was a PIA drilling into the frame to mount the pump. 5 holes. I tried to pre drill but theres not a lot of room. 4 bolts for the hanger for the fuel pump and a ground for the pump itself. I ran the power to the fuel pump as well.
The sniper EFI master kit by holley was kind of a bare bones kit. It didnt contain all the necessary fittings for the fuel system that you will need. I bought some more fitting on amazon as well as more fuel hose. The hose that came with the kit is barely enough for the return line. After cleaning out the tank as best I could I installed the return line for the fuel system. Next I'll drill another hole in the tank toward the bottom for the fuel line going to the pump. After that I should be ready to put the tank back.
The last picture is my sons dawg. He just got groomed, He is soooooo fluffy. When hes outside ill chill with me in my shop. Not today thought I dont want him getting dirty.

Finally Got the rest of my jeep parts from amazon. Drilled the last hole in the tank going to the fuel pump. The spot I drilled probably isn't the best spot but it will do. Its the closest I could get to where the fuel pump is located. I have to run to the local auto parts store this morning and grab a couple of things. I filled the tank up with water last night just to make sure it doesn't leak. Prior to calling it a day I finished putting the netting around my garden box. Im trying to keep the birds and critters out.

Saturday I got almost a full day in the shop to work on the YJ. I made sure my tank wasn't leaking before I put it back in the jeep. That would be a real ***** if It leaked gas... I finally got the tank back where it belongs. It took me a few times with my floor jack to get it in the right spot. It lined up pretty well with all the bolts. Once that was in place I ran my fuel like to the pump /filter. From there I ran it to the back of the throttle body. Also ran the return line. I need to clean up my wires and hoses but its getting there.

Sunday funday I decided to get up early and donate blood. Probably not the greatest idea being super bowl sunday. Im off monday I think ill just chill inside lol. I have a nos fitting coming for the fuel line into the throttle body. I might put that on and finish up wiring.
