Deep offset wrench sets?

Looking for another tool recommendation. I'm looking for a deep offset wrench set, for a reasonable price. Can't afford Snap on or S&K and the like. Just looking for one of decent quality. I keep running into the need for offset wrenches when I'm working on cars. It would be something like in the link below. But with that set, I'm not sure of the quality.

Hard to tell, but that set of duralasts looks like the angle isn't quite what it should be. Well, maybe just not quite what I'm looking for. I'd prefer as close to a 90 degree angle as I can get. I realize none of them will probably be a 90 degree angle, but I believe even those ones that are in the link I posted, are closer to 90.

Just wanting to make sure I get a set that will for sure fit in most of the applications I'd be using them for. For example, yesterday I was changing a toyota strut, and needed an offset wrench. I don't think that those duralasts would have met the necessary fitment requirements.

You might also look at SK for the offset wrenches. You might find some on ebay, or at HJE.

Indian steel is not quite the quality we're used to with USA made tools

I use India made wrenches at work daily. Nothing to complain about at all.

Basic RP things that fit fasteners well and have not shamed me in years. Quality can come from anywhere. Its all case by case anymore.

Can't argue with success.

Do you run into much need to really put your back into it when you are using them? I have a tendency to break poorer quality tools. If you say that you do put them under some pressure, I'll probably just buy that set in my first post. Even the mid range tools all seem to start at about $100, for sets that I'd consider to be incomplete.

I bet they do. I'm looking to pay less than $300 for a complete set though. I'll be needing standard and metric.

After having them in front so long I have no fear of really pushing on them. Suspension work is pretty rough on tools and these do well. Of course I will get the big breaker bar out if need be but most cars don't demand that.

Good to see you back Mickey. No need to import seafood in Mexico, got two ocean coasts in driving distance and its fresher. kinda cheap too.

TOPTUL makes an extremely nice version of this type of tool. The are called 75 degree offset wrenches. I'm out of stock on these currently with a new shipment arriving in about three months. That stated the Stahlwille set recommended above is outstanding.

Yeah its usually suspension work where I break cheap tools. What brand are the ones that you use daily and trust? I'd like to buy the same set. Probably safer that way, since I can't buy the top shelf stuff right now.

Pretul, 2nd tier of Truper which is a Mex brand. They look a lot like CM RP wrenches but don't have that sharp ridge on the panel.

I don't have a catalog but I know they are branded for others that may be located nearer to you. I am pretty sure a 'full range' set will not be available from Pretul. They tend to stop all sets at 19 mm. Home owner range if you will.

I'll put in a plug for these as well. I bought mine from Dennis quite a while ago and have no complaints so far. Great set for the money.

You can pick up the Stahlwille set for just over a hundred if you are patient.

Edit: I think the offset is 70 or 75 degrees too. A bit deeper than most, including the SO.

If you're not in a big hurry, just wait for the Craftsman set to go on sale. I think they drop to $24.99 from time to time. They're made in China now, but so are most comparable wrenches around this price point.

*now that Armstrong is done, there might be some good deals out there and they make a USA offset set.

Those stahlwille's are made in germany by real workers, and generally considered to be some of the best made. stahlwille is famous for its wrench quality and designs. No issue buying stahlwille metics for sure. Show your patriotism and buy vintage usa tools for SAE, if that's a selling point for you. :thumbup:

Last year the best shipped price I found was Advance Auto Parts $118 to my door. I checked the other day and they don't offer them now.

None of the suggested higher end sets were complete, unless you want to pay $300 or near $300. At this point, a shiny finish isn't really what I need in a tool. Strength and fitment is what I need. And these are forged, so I really don't see strength as being much of an issue.

What I would have liked to have had, would be say... an $80-$90 Gearwrench set, that had all the sizes that are in the kit I actually ended up buying.
