Deep well socket for lug nuts?

I have a wide selection of sockets (all sizes, SAE/metric, splined, deep, shallow, chromed and impact, etc etc)

My problem is specifically for the lug nuts on my 2003 Ram. My 22mm and my 7/8” deep impact sockets are SK, which even though they’re “deep”, the hex recess is still “shallow”.

What quality USA brand of impact sockets actually have a “deep” hex recess for the nut itself?

Not sure on impacts, but the Proto 1/2 drive deeps sockets have a deep broach.

Try looking on their website for dimensions.

I have an older NAPA 15/16 deep impact socket that I use. I actually says NAPA USA.

Wright is a full depth broach.

Specifically kept my whole set for that reason. All my Snappy sockets have a shallow broach.

Are you using sockets made for taking lugs off? IE lug nut flip sockets? If not a really cheap set can be picked up at oreily's or napa auto. They have both metric and SAE in the set.

Nice, I like Wright stuff a lot. I’ll give them a look

Nice, all my old NAPA USA stuff is great. I wish they still made it.

Got a lot from Cripe Dist off of eBay over the years

Older Craftsman 12 point deeps were broached full length. Don't know about present stock.

Interesting problem, some people think shallow broaching is a great feature. Sometimes it is sometimes it isn’t. Oops, now we need yet another socket set. Shallow, semi deep, deep with shallow broaching for putting nuts on studs, deep with deep broaching for taking nuts off.

The older (1990s for me) Craftsman USA 6 pt deeps were full broach too. I have a set of metric and standard like that.

Mine are from Facom, and are pretty much identical to these;

The extra length really helps prevent scratching an alloy wheel.

On my 07 Ram I have always used the Cr Moly impacts from HF. I just took a look and they are around 1" deep. How much depth are you looking for? I bought a set of 1/2"deep and shallow chrome (not impact) metrics from Eastwood. They are shallow broached. It has not caused a problem yet but I probably would have passed on them if I had noticed.

I use a KOKEN 1/2" 21mm Deep Socket (4300M (L60)) that works well for me on my custom wheel nut lugs.

Koken offers a pretty good variety (yes not U.S. made but still a solid Japanese product) of depth and length, etc. they offer two different lengths L60 & L110

Also I would highly recommend getting and using a "breaker bar" (used with a small "Extension" :dunno: ) first when starting to remove nut lugs, makes life a little bit easier.

Found a NOS Allen USA 22mm that’s perfect for my lugs, has a nice deep broach.

Compared to a Williams USA
Williams on the left, Allen on the right

I'm thinking of getting some of these, wonder if the Facom, Sunex, Titan, PCL sockets come from the same plant. They all look identical except for the exterior finish and sleeve (Sunnex set is $60):
