I have the lower spindle out from my Delta/Rockwell 17-600 drill press (1969 based on serial number). How do I remove these bearings? Use standard puller? or is there a trick to this? Also, how do I remove the MT2 spindle? Thx!

If you pull the garter spring ( above the top bearing) out of the way, you'll see a thing key; remove that , and the top, splined portion of the spindle can be removed. Then all you do is unscrew the Allen head screw retaining the bearings- it should slide off with hand pressure, but you may need to scrub off the dried grease to get it apart.

Yup, easy peasy once the key is removed. Do both bearings pull out of the taper side using a bearing puller? It looks like I have to pull both at the same time as there is no place to catch the first bearing with the puller.

Yes, ur right. JT33 to the drill chuck.

Ok got it. Thx. Place the puller on the bearing at gear end and drive both through taper end. Didn't have the allen screw.
