I recently acquired a working 1960 ish Delta 40-440 Scroll Saw with stand on Facebook Marketplace with probable original motor (1/3) HP for $50. It had been donated to a charity for a yard sale - no other history. I'm going to restore the unit for my workshop. Someone added a magnetic starter switch which I would like to remove and replace with a new paddle switch. I've read the only advantage to the mag switch is that the motor won't restart after power outage.
I could use some help on this one. Is there any reason to keep the mag switch? Is it OK to just replace it with a standard Paddle switch?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
