Densifier/Sealer recommendations?

1 year old garage floor slab
Unfortunately no vapor barrier underneath
Will see 0* F to 100*F temperature ranges

Looks for the best densifier and/or sealer to use on it. The look of concrete is fine - just want to protect it. Also, don't want the floors to be shiny after.

Thanks!

For basic protection against water. freeze thaw etc, I would suggest TL39. orLithi Tek 9500

If you have concerns about prolonged exposure to automotive fluids, I would do the TL37 and the Ghostshield 8505 You would need two applications of the 8505 and one of the 37.

Thank you. Would the Ghostshield go on first then the 37?

After both are done - would you say the concrete would look the same as it does now or would it have a sheen to it?

The 37 goes on first. While 37 is dry in 3 days a densifier can take up to a week to finish its work. We suggest waiting a week. Then you will do two coats of 8505 wet on wet. Spray a section you can reach, wait 5 minutes and spray it again

We have been getting amazing feedback from our Silax-Seal product.

Serious water repellent, stain blocker but priced below that of similar products in the market.

Densifier base with a rich siloxane additive. Forms a membrane within the pores of the concrete.

Have a look here http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=297279 and have a look regarding product data sheets and MSDS sheets on allgaragefloors.com There are several ways to skin this cat. You also need to think about silane and silicane like you would a pain killer. How much of the active ingredient is there and is the medicine designed for what I want to do.

As an example we have this type of sealer/densifier for under $40 a gallon all the way up to $279 a gallon. They all serve a purpose the key is to get the one that best serves you.

I for one would like to commend both of you on your professionalism and lack of "oh yeah, my stuff is way better" in these types of threads. It's palpable, but appreciate it's absence. There is obviously room for educated and civil product discourse from more than one retailer here. Thank you for both of your perspectives and honest information, and keep up the good work.

I'm halfway through my ghostshield 4500/8505 process (densifier down, waiting 7 days to apply the sealer).

So far so good. Coverage was slightly less than stated but its a new slab (51+ days old). The 4500 was supposed to cover 1000 SF but I just had enough to do my 750 SF.

Easy to mix and apply (I sprayed it and my son backrolled it), and didn't change the color of the slab. Not sure yet what the sealer will do.

I'm eventually putting down racedeck, but you only get a free clean slab once and wanted to properly protect it before it gets abused.

The 8505 won't change the color. It will have a dull shine to it. But you will love how it works. Did mine about a year ago.
