Greetings All,
While picking up a few open stock Dewalt combination wrenches on Amazon the other day, i noticed some changes in their design when they arrived.
First off, i got 21, 22, 24, and 27 mm wrenches.
First change is that the anti slip open end has been replaced with a regular open end. This isn't a new change but, has shown up in sets purchased over the last year.
The second change is that the 24 mm wrench looks as if it from a completely different series of wrenches.
First off, it's shorter than the 22 mm wrench pictured with it below. The 22 measures approximately 12.5 inches long overall. However, the 24 mm only measures roughly 11 inches overall. It's more of a standard length wrench then a long pattern version. Gone are the knurled rectangles on each side of the wrench beam, the size marking is slightly smaller, and the base of the open end is slightly wider. The 24 mm part number is DWMT79119 which is the current part number found on the Dewalt web site. I believe this to be a model change as other Dewalt full polished metric combination wrenches ran part numbers DWMT75xxx.
I've recommended these wrenches more than once to people looking for a good set of wrenches without braking the bank. However, I don't think i can do that any more if they're switching to a new pattern but, that's just me.
So don't be surprised if you order an open stock wrench and something different from what you have or were expecting.
Not all is doom and gloom though, i snagged the 27 mm wrench for less than $8 as an add on item.
