Ok i have to admit i feel a little dumb. I just picked up a set of the impact ready bit set at lowes. For some reason i cant figure out how to get the 1/4" bits out of the bit holder once i put them in. Is there a trick to this? Is mine defective? I could only get it out with a pair of pliers, and I am almost positive that is NOT the correct way. Thanks for any input:thumbup:

LOL been there, done that. I actually exchanged one of those I got awhile back with the same issue. The guys at Lowe's were all sure they could just pull it out including one big dude but none of them could. They used pliers. Pulled another one off the shelf and it was easier to remove them, but still difficult. I think the only thing that will really cure it is a lot of insertions/removals {insert joke here} over time. Either that or some slight filing of the bits, which is what I did. They don't all have the same resistance.

Lol...you mean the one that pivots? Mines the same way. I think it's just got a really strong spring that holds the bit. I've had to use pliers on mine as well from time to time.

I had a problem with that bit holder... after I removed the bit, I noticed the ring that locks it in was slightly bent. So I got out a pick and tore it out, since all I wanted was a magnetic bit holder without a guide sleeve anyway.

Are you talking the bits in the impact screw driver? Because if so, just give it a light tap on concrete ( the tip of the bit) and the collar will release and the bit will fall out.

No, he's talking about the magnetic/clip bitholder that goes into the impact driver and holds the bits, or converts a chuck drill to bitholder.

I always have to use pliers as well. Surely there must be an easier way!

My feeling is that it's this tight by design, though.
