I own craftsman, father in law owns Makita, Dad owns Dewalt, and I've only tried display milwaukee stuff at HD.
The truth is, IMO, ya just about cant go wrong with any of them. I felt my craftsman were kinda cheap ($150 for driver, drill, bag, 2 batteries and charger). Not a fan of the drill really as it slips on drill bits sometimes, but I have used them in construction for the past year - inside and outside in the mud. They keep going.
I think Dewalt makes very powerful tools, although somewhat cheap-ish feeling. I own some Dewalt stuff and it gets its job done.
The milwaukee stuff that I do own is unimpressive - angle grinder, and vice grips.
When my craftsman kick the bucket I will undoubtedly go with Makita.
Best advice is to go to HD and put them all in your hand and pick which feels best. They will last the average home owner many years.
