I'm wondering who their target market is. These types of sets are commodities....and they are not making a very wide range of sizes.

Their target would be all the contractors and home users they have already sold on the DeWalt brand. It will be interesting to see where all they show up. I doubt Home Depot or Lowes will be interested. They would probably take business away from the Husty and Kobalt lines.

I'm guessing the quality will be reasonable. They have positioned DeWalt as their quality brand and I wouldn't think they would want to detract from that. I too would assume Taiwan manufacture. If they are successful, maybe it will put some positive pressure on Craftsman. We can hope.

Dewalt is owned by Black and Decker They also own Porter cable and Delta machinery. I dont think they have anything to do with Stanley

If they are like the Porter cable they are the bottom of the quality line. Dewalt power tools are jut mid quality and over priced. I would never buy one.

An alternate reality in a parallel universe.
I have two sets of DeWalt 3/8" drive deep 6 pt. impact sockets that I scored from Cripe Distributing and filled in the gaps at Lowes, which equated to each set costing around $35. I love them, they have thin walls which lend to getting them into tight places. The first set I've had for almost two years with a few thousand TEK screws ran off of them into 1/4" thick steel along with hundreds of lag bolts and other fasteners with little to no deformation in either drive end or hex ends.

Can't speak on their chrome stuff though.

Stanley Black & Decker doesn't own Delta anymore.

I don't think it's fair to compare the impact sockets to these chrome sockets. I have a few of the small impacts as well, and while they're quite good there's not a lot of specialness to them.

Interesting...how many brands of sockets does Stanley need?
One for every market.

The new line seems kind of out of place within the Dewalt brand, but at the same time it's a logical tier.

not saying they would be bad. but this is just one more thing for them to sell with a good name behind it, to get the casual user thinking he bought a nice set of sockets that may be better then stanley or hf.

obivously not where most people who work with tools alot will go to buy sockets or something. sure isn't the first thing in my mind when i think of dewalt, i think power tools not hand tools.

Reminds me, a few years ago at a local wholesale place I used to see cordless drills by Coleman.

Prices are higher than expected. If they're made in Taiwan or China, Gearwrench seems like a better choice at lower cost.

Gotta pay for that Dewalt name!

I'd hope they're made in Taiwan. They already have cheap Chinese junk labeled as Stanley, though I guess this could just be a way to sell expensive Chinese junk, too. Those ratchet handles look like they'd be heavy as hell.
