I've collected a lot of die grinders over the years, most of them still kicking with authority. My favorite 90 degree grinder started making noise though, so I took the sioux apart. Besides the bearings which should be easy to find locally, the gears look chipped up. It's a nice enough grinder that I might actually source a replacement geared shaft.
While I had it apart, I decided to look inside the dotco I recently acquired (very used) and they're pretty similar.
The sioux seems to have more robust parts, but then again the sioux is the one that is broken so go figure. The dotco seems more finely machined and has a simpler mechanism with sealed bearings all around.
Anyways, just in case you were curious what your die grinder looks like when you take it apart and flush out all the gunk and dried grease:
