As the title says, are the bees diva t8 led's dimmable? Just wondering. I will be installing 36 of them in my 1200sqft shop and was wondering if they could be turned down when I don't need all of the light.

I would not think so. The tube spec says 100-277vac. So if you dimmed past that voltage then the tube would probably just go out.

Personally I would wire them up to a gang of individual switches so they can be turned on in "layers". As in, put 4 on for basic lights, then up to 18 for the next level, and then finally all 36.

These are the ones I was talking about. If they really are James lights, from what I found, James lists all of their lights with internal drivers as dimmable on their site.

@matt_i, I was planning on putting them in like you described, 6/15/15, as well. I may just do that route, but while I was wiring, I was thinking about using a dimmer switch instead of a standard one if it was feasible at all.

DynoMike, sounds like an awesome workshop......are these lights LED's?

What fixtures are you using to house these? I've heard great things about DIVA lights and frankly am lost in all the comparisons to others. I am doing a 32x50 garage that is basically in two halves, and has one bay with a 14' ceiling for a car lift. Going to need to buy the fixtures soon and I like what you are doing but need some more info. Thanks

Thanks @Jawgarage, I hope it turns out. I have a 2 post lift (Atlas 9kPV), going in as soon as I finish up the hydronic floor heat and epoxy flooring. I am ordering the lights today, but am off to PRI next week so I don't imagine I will finish them up for two to three weeks. I will have the floor heat done this weekend and will get the lights up, then epoxy. I can take some pictures once I get the lights up.

Here it is pre-floor and apron about a month ago. The yellow is Creatherm insulation with the tubing pressed into it for floor heat.

I am using the LED T8 bulbs mentioned above along with the fixtures from Bees (the 2 bulb with no ballasts). They are the two mentioned in the Best Fixture sticky (post 1) from Bees. I am going with those because of the quantity needed and the others require quantities of 30 at a time. I will be dropping them about 6" from the ceiling height, but may mount them directly to the ceiling once I get that installed. Right now, it is just open trusses.

I probably won't get the ceiling and insulation installed until late spring. At that time, I will do blown in insulation in the ceiling and add a split ductless system for A/C.

Ok, I believe that I misread the part number of the dimmable ones, you are absolutely correct, the magic tubes are not dimmable. Thanks!
