DIY coal forge: chimney prep?

I'm building a coal fired forge for my son and I to try our hands at knifemaking and I have a question:

Though we will be using it outdoors for the time being I have designed it to have a hood and chimney in case I finally get to build a shop that I could put it in so I want to put a stub pipe in place for a chimney. All the commercial double wall chimney pipe I have seen is thin gauge sheet metal that is formed, not good for welding to a steel hood. Is there any kind of steel stub pipe available specifically to be welded on one end (flanged perhaps) and slip fit into the double wall chimney pipe?

Thanks in advance!

Don't know anything about setting up a forge chimney, but as far as tubing goes, look for "HREW" tube like this...

I'm swimming in the stuff! I run a manufacturing plant that Fabricates with steel pipe all day (moved 2200 tons of it in the last 6 months) so scrap pcs are not a problem. The issue is that the pipe used in my industry is not dimensionally true to its size: Our 4" is 4.5" OD, 6" is 6.625", etc..

Thanks for the reply though, I appreciate it!

They do ends for the double wall flue to convert to a vitreous enamel stove pipe, as you have to have so much plain single wall pipe from a stove before going to twin wall (here in the UK).

But if you have a forge and an anvil then it should be no problem to expand a few inches at the end of whatever nominal size steel pipe until it becomes a decent slip fit in the flue.
